Are there any GBA apps that can view jpegs in there real form?

Also are there any GBA apps that can play MP3's without having to rencode them?

I believe pogoshell can view jpeg as well as play mp3's

Actually, I don't think Pogoshell can play mp3's.  It takes a lot of processing power to decode an mp3, and the GBA just can't do it by itself.  The Supercad requires you to convert mp3s or other audio files to .gbs files, which are less processor-intensive to play but are still pretty small.

Nintendo's Play-Chan Media Player uses additional hardware in the cart to play MPEG-4 and mp3 files.  I know from experience that there are several inexpensive hardware mp3 decoders, and Nintendo has probably either used one of these or incorporated its functions into an all-in-one audio / video decoder chip for the Play-Chan.

The GSMPlayer also works on the GBA, but I haven't been able to get it to work on the Supercard yet.  The GSMPlayer is better-sounding than the same file size .gbs files in my opinion.  I might try to do some quick mp3's to illustrate the differences in sound quality this weekend.

From IGN, "Play-chan looks like a large Game Boy Advance cartridge. It has a slot that accepts SD cards and includes a built-in Broadcom VC01PXX-ES2 hardware decoder.

I wish the Supercard used SD cards and had the same cartridge design that the Play-Chan does due to the fact that it sticks out from the GBA less and that it has to be more durable.  Also, I'll bet that SD cards use less power than CF cards.

well go get a Play-Chan and compare them for us ;)

While it would be an interesting test, I'm sure a reviewer will eventually test the battery life on the Play-Chan.  Since it doesn't play ROMs I'm not very interested in buying one.   :P
