Ok.. i'm VERY noob to NDS homebrew scene..
Got Supercard Mini-SD with EZ Pass 2 and a DS LITE..

I juz got EZ Pass 2, flashed it with JED file of my org. cart..
Plugged it in, and got to play a few patched roms using the supercard program.

Then i went to upgrade my supercard mini-sd f/w to 1.62 (the latest)..
Now, i plug out the ez pass, and i can still run nds roms?!?!

So far the games i've run w/o ez pass are super mario ds 64,brain age,
new super mario bros, nanostray, tetris DS and metroid prime hunter..
all of them loaded and played fine WITHOUT the ez pass 2 in the DS slot..
Correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought i need a passme device in the ds slot to play nds roms?

How come i can load and play the roms w/o the ez pass plugged in??

Another question, games are auto-saved to DS if i run it thru
the Supercard program, setting "Save to SD"?
So i nvr need to worry about saving issues?
So i can juz turn off the DS and the save data will be auto-save?

THe supercard mini-sd doesn't come with a manual.. hehe..

The are only two ways to run DS games from the GBA port on a factory original DS . . .

1) use a pass through device
2) use WiFiMe with an RT2500-RT2560 wireless PCI card (DS<FW4)

There is no other way.

With one of the above methods in place it's possible to update the DS firmware with FlashMe.  FlashMe eliminates the need for a pass through device.

when you are in the supercard menu you can take the passme out and still play games.

Ok.. here's what i do..

There is NOTHING in the DS SLOT..

1. I take out the SC Mini-sd cart, i boot up the DS Lite..
1a. It shows the Nintendo screen and health warning at the touchscreen.
2. I run pictochat.. everything works...
3. I turn off the DS Lite.
4. I plug in the SC Mini-SD ONLY.. DS SLOT still empty..
5. I turn on the DS Lite, it boots into the SuperCard menu.
6. It shows SuperCard DS on the touchscreen.
7. I run New Super Mario Bros ROM..
8. Load my save game and play!!
9. I restart the SC with L+R+X+Y+A+B
10. Load Tetris DS and played it too!
11. I turn off my DS Lite.
12. I plugged in original DS Game, Bomberman, took out the SC Mini-sd.
13. Turned on DS Lite and played Bomberman, everything fine.
14. Turned off DS Lite.
15. Plugged out the bomberman cart.
16. Plugged in SC Mini-sd
17. Turned on DS Lite.
18. DS Lite boots into SC DS menu.
19. I run Super Mario 64 DS - OK.
20. Restart SC mini-sd with key-combo
21. I run Brain Age, Save game loads fine!

So i'm wondering.. where does the pass through device fit in?
All this while it's (EZ Pass 2) sitting on my desk unused!!
and i swear this is a stock DS Lite i got from the shop AFAIK.
Unless they got me a flashme set? How do i know if it has been flashed?

PhiBeR

hah! Damn it..

I called my local gameshop to enquire..

Seems that they passed me a Flashme V7 (health Warning intact) set by mistake..
It was supposed to be sold at a slightly higher price! WTF?! haha..

Now i can sell off my Ez Pass 2..
