I attempted to replace my shell on DS last night as my original snapped.  Having trouble screwing back together as seems there are no threads in the new case …very sore fingers now.  So I attempted to turn it on by connecting the battery with the PCB half screwed in but doesn’t power up. Im assuming is broken but maybe somebody else done this ? And then recovered by putting back together properly?

Does the case need to be tight to get the batt connected does anyone know?

Ive held the battery onto the connectors but cant even get a flick of power.

Appreciate any tips on screwing this back together, or any similar stories to give me hope.

The battery must be in.  Double check all the ribbon connectors.  Be carful, but make sure you have seated the ribbons fully inside the connectors.  If you think you have blown a fuse then check F1 and F2.

(If you want I'll put it together for you for free.  This would give me an opportunity to fix my friends DSlite.  His DSlite turned off trying to flash it.  I could borrow your BIOS to fix his DS, then put yours back together.  PM me if you are interested.)

thanks fellas.

I was working from those instructions to get into this mess.  I think the problem is that the shell has no threads. My screws didnt get sucked into the weak plastic as those instructions suggest, almost the opposite.  They are half screwed in and wont budge now.

Unfortunately is no use for your pals DS lite, as this is a normal DS.  The only ribbon i touched was the top screen connector as per those instructions, that could well be in wrong i suppose but not sure if that would cause a power issue.

Anyways, thanks for the suggestiosn. Ive given up and will be sending to consoleplus in UK for a repair.

Oh, I thought I read DS lite.  I've taken apart a standard DS before.  I ran into the same type of problem, my DS wouldn't power up.  Double checking the ribbons fixed the problem.

The only other problem would be one of the fuses . . .
