It's like i'm seeing grayish blueish, but then again it could be dark blue. Any help on how to see the difference?

Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

I believe I got it around this past Christmas, or around that time. I'm hoping that it is one of the old firmware versions so I can just use my friend's Superpass.

If you got it that recently, the only way to know for sure is to try. If the old Superpass doesn't work, then you know that it's v6 and you need a 2-series Pass device.

Superpass2 will work with any version DS and it comes pre-configured as "passme1".

Yeah, I know Superpass2 works for all but my friend has only got the regular Superpass, so really i'm just trying to save some money here   .

Then just give it try .  Make sure to update your supercard firmware in GBA mode first.  The supercard should boot to the dual screen supercard logo menu if you have the correct DS firmware, otherwise it won't.  No harm done in trying.
