Over at Cnet.com they are running a story on a rumor that Apple has plans to buy out Nintendo. Could the most stylish PC maker join forces with the most stylish game company? Rumors are if they are to join forces the Mac Mini would be the base that the next Nintendo console will be built from. Personaly I want Nintendo to stay independant (AND BUY SEGA DAMNT!) but if they are dead set on selling Apple would be my number 1 choice of companys to combine with. Pff... yeah right, (points down) so heaven is here, (points up) hell is here, it's raining monkeys, and wood is now a drink.

After the disaster that was the Pippin in the mid-90's, I seriously doubt that Apple would ever get into anything having to do with game consoles.  A more likely rumor is that better games may be added to the iPod or available for purchase.

Maybe a joint project, but Apple could never buy Nintendo. I doubt ANY non-Japanese company could. I think they'd rather go down in flames than have that happen.

Thankfully, Nintendo is looking more stable all the time. 8)

edit: One more thing... Nintendo are innovators, Apple are refiners. Nintendo makes cool new devices, Apple takes older product ideas and makes them cooler looking. Where is this going? Style vs flash.

If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

Sounds like a good idea to me...

Buyout? Yea, right.

They might do a joint project for an apple game system (as there have been rumors of such as the next major iPod innovation), but Nintendo heavily guards their Gameboy and DS division moreso than their console division (the handheld division is run in the US FE by the main Japanese HQ, not the NA HQ).

So they might be having some talks about making a iPod handheld game system, but I doubt Nintendo would go for it, or they may be seeking to have some games playable on such a system by Nintendo, which would be more feesable, especially if they were older games.
