I have heard mixed reviews about the speeds of SD cards making a difference in playing DS games. I am using the supercard SD and am in the market for a new SD card (my old 256mb just isn't enough). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what I should get or what you guys are using and how well it works?

I am looking at a Ritek/Ridata 66x 512 mb card right now (only $10 on newegg + $5 shipping). Anyone know if these things work well with the supercard or not?

Also, extreme noob question, but what are average sized DS games...how many could I fit on a 512MB card?

Any help/suggestions are much appreciated.

SC SD 512mb + 256mb AData x150 and Sandisk 1G
Supercard SD, Sandisk 2 GB, AData  256 MB
Supercard One - 512MB Transcend
Pink DSL with flashme v8a Org-FW  haven't checked

PNY 512MB; Toshiba 1GB; SanDisk 1GB; SanDisk 512MB miniSD

All standard speed. None have any issues with any slowdown except in the Castlevania DoS intro video. Sloooow, but not slideshow slow.

Try out the Ritek 512MB card... it's worth the $$ even if you don't use it in your SC.

Most DS games are 32MB/256mb & 64MB/512mb, a few are 128MB/1gb. You'll see the sizes shrink a bit on most titles after you patch them. The number of games per 512MB SD card will vary from a few to a lot.

Have fun.

I ordered that same card from newegg to go with my new supercard.  I used to have a 256 and I had quite a few games on there.  I would have been happy with another 256 card to be honest with you but that 512 for $15 is too good a deal to pass up.  Just keep in mind to find the size in megaBYTES of a game, divide its size in megaBITS by 8.  So a 512 mbit game will be roughly 64 mbytes before patching.  A 512 mbyte card is the equivalent of 4 gigabits.  So you should be able to squeeze at least 6 ds games on there, and that's if they're big ones.  Most aren't that big, so you could have like a dozen games on the card at once.

As for the brand, Ritek has a pretty good reputation when it comes various media; actually we bought my girlfriend a 1gb ridata card for her camera last summer and it works flawlessly.  I also think I saw on the sd card compatibity list on this board that there was a 1gig ritek card reported to work fine.  So I'm confident that mine is going to work well and that if you order the same one you'll be pleased too.  That's the best deal on flash memory I've seen anywhere in as long as I can remember, so either way I'm happy with my purchase.  Should be showing up later this week, unfortunately I probably won't have the supercard to use it with for a week or so :(
