Recently, having purchased a US NDS Lite, I want a screen protector to preserve the original state of the NDSL's screens. I've read that there are protectors with adhesive and those without. I am interested particularly in four products.

One is the officially Nintendo licensed Hori screen protector(hxxp://www.hori.jp/us/products/ndsl/protective_filter/index.html),

Invisible Shield's protector(hxxp://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/NTNDSLS.html),

Intec's protector(hxxp://www.kmart.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=159080&Ne=2033&N=2079&categoryId=2079&pCategoryId=2033&gpCategoryId=1038),

and Pelican's protector(hxxp://www.EBgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802272).

I am particularly interested in whether these products use adhesives and how will overall do they function, such as wear and tear with use and how clear the images on the LCDs are after application. If anyone has any of these products, please share your thoughts, give mini-reviews, take pictures with the product in use, etc.

I'm using the Hori DSLite filters.. (screen protectors).. they are great.  almost undetectable, and provide peace of mind, knowing that my frantic stylus action will not permanently scar my DSLite screen!

No problem with Pelican, though I have no need to apply the top screen protector.  It is adhesive, but I was very careful not to touch it to make sure so that I didn't have any fingerprints.

i prefer hori, i've read some bad reviews about pelicans

The officially Nintendo licensed screen protectors made by the company Hori:

They are supposed to be available for purchase, yet I can not find them anywhere on or offline. Does anyone know where to get the US version of this product? I already know where to get the Japanese version, but I want to refrain from buying and using it since it will probably void my warranty. Only use of the Nintento licensed US version of the Hori Protective Filter won't void my warranty.

I bought an InvisibleShield from Shieldzone, and it's really good.  The only small quib I have is that the screen protector for the bottom screen leaves around a millimeter of space around the screen, but it's not that big of an issue.  For a full body shield, the InvisibleShield is very good.

Hmm...there is a Fry's somewhat close by. Maybe I could check it out. I'm in the Seattle area. If there aren't any there, do you think I can send you money through PayPal or something and then have you ship it to me? Just to make it clear, I am only interested in the American release of the Hori DS Lite screen protector.

Why don't you just go to www.lik-sang.com and order the Hori screen protectors directly?

To protect the outer casing of the DS Lite I strongly recommend the Invisible Shield

http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/NTNDSLF.html

At $30 it's a bit pricey, but it covers the outside of the upper lid, the bottom, and both screens.  I highly recommend it.  It also comes with a lifetime guarantee.  If it gets worn, or dirty, etc you can just email them for a new one. :)

WTF!!!!!!!!!!
hell no, if you guy's want some hori screen protectors just send the money via paypal and i'll buy them for you. They're only 8.99 blus tax is $9.70.i will send it through regular usps mail since it doesnt weight anything, unless you guy's want me to send it through priority mail(about 2-3 day shipping). So $14.25 if priority mail, its way better than $30 and faster shipping to i am in san diego.

The Hori protectors only cover the top screen and the bottom screen.  The Invisible Shield covers the top screen, the bottom screen, the outer top cover, and the outer bottom cover.

Anyone here who owns an ipod knows how easily they scratch.  The DS Lite is covered in the same plastic.  It is a scratch magnet.  The Invisible Shield solution is for picky owners who want their DS Lites looking new inside and out for as long as possible.

$30 is pretty cheap for that peace of mind.
Would you every put your DS Lite in a ziplock bag with your car keys and shake it up?

Check the demo's

p.s. I don't work for invisible shield, nor am I affiliated with the company in anyway.  I'm just a picky electronics owner. :)

Not to troll and cross post to my forums, but we've been discussing this very topic at great length and I think you can find some good information at these threads:

Summary:

ORIGINAL DS Horis appear to have the most favor - some reports of the Hori Lite's having some sort of adhesive residue are circulating.

Next in line, we hear good things about the Invisishield brand already mentioned.  I cannot vouch.

The GameStop (aka rebranded Pelicans) protectors are DAMN good - in fact, I like their surface better than the Hori.  They are a tight fit though.  For those that hate Pelican, these ARE NOT the old Write and Protect crappy pelicans.  They have really REALLY improved.  They are cheap, quite acceptable, and easy to get.

Madcatz - RUN.  RUN  FAST.

What do I use on mine?  Hori's on the Classic DSes.  The new Pelican/Gamestop on the Lite.  I custom cut the top protector to my own specs (a PERFECT fit; and I don't believe in protecting the top screen) and applied it.  No bubbles... No dirt.  I have a set of Horis I was going to put on, but these Pelicans are so close to perfect, I don't have the drive to replace them.

Hope this helps out.

I recently got the Hori Screen Protector, have one on my phat DS as well but poorly put on hehe. I took my time with the Lite version and it has turned out brilliantly, I forgot I even put it on until I read this thread! It doesn't use adhesives so you can apply it again and again till you've got it right

Um..no..those are the Japanese versions of the Hori brand. I am looking for the US version:

has a nice picture of the US packaging.

Yeah, I've heard about those Inisible Shields and I bet their awesome. It's just that I would rather buy something that is covered by my warranty.

Nintidiot

I picked up a set of Intec protectors not knowing they could possibly void the Nintendo warrantee. I didn't apply them to my DSL until I saw a couple of very faint scratches on my touch screen. Obviously I cannot take care of my screen no matter how hard I try so I took the plunge and put a protector on the bottom screen and I was supremely happy with the results. No bubbles and no dust or debris. Apparently Intec's protectors would leave gunk on the original DS but I don't think this is the case with their new DSL protectors. I took the top protector and stuck it to my PCs monitor screen and it left no gunk behind. I am sure there is a light amount of glue used to hold the protector to the screen but the protector is easy to take off. Personally, if I had a set of Hori's I would have applied them without a second thought.

I wonder…if I did put the top protector on, could I close the DSL properly. The DSL manual says to put a protector on the touch screen only.
