Howdy y'all!

I have a Supercard CF 512mb and a flashed DS Lite. I recently bought a very cheap SD card without having any use for it, and am now thinking of getting the SuperCard SD.

My SD card was $5, 1 gigabyte, and runs at 40x speed. I understand I'm going to have some slowdown on some games with that speed, but at that price, I can't complain.

Anyways, I was looking for some general info on ease of use with the SuperCard SD. My CF card sticks out considerably on the DS Lite, which is the primary reason I want to switch up to the SD version (and my gf doesn't mind getting the CF one anyways).

From what I understand, the SD memory card goes right into the SuperCard SD? Is it easy to pop in and out? I'm going to be transferring data from it quite a bit, I bet.

Is the SuperCard SD made well enough for it to handle frequent removal of the memory card? My SuperCard CF has no problems handling frequent removal, I'd like that ease of use on the SD version as well.

Do games run more stable on the SD version than the CF one? Or is it the same?

Any other comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a SC sd and I haven't had any problems with the sd card being removed many times, my sd card is 150x so I can't say anything about 40x, but mine works great for nds, but gba roms have mega slowdown

The Supercard SD requires you remove the card EACH TIME you want to remove/replace the SD card.  That's a real pain.

The Supercard miniSD has the miniSD internal, and accessible from the outside with NO removal of the Supercard.

GBA speed isn't affected by SD speed - some are just slow due to the slower RAM in the Supercard.  If GBA is what you're looking for, the Supercard may NOT be the right answer.

Hmz, I don't have any problems with my SCSD rly...

you just pull out the SCSD, push the SD card, then it comes popping out a little bit so you can grab it.
When you put the card back in you have to push it a little bit until you hear a "click" and then it's in.. no problem. I eject/insert it a lot (almost every day for 1/2 yr now), and it is still the same as if it was brand new, so neither that is a problem.

About the speed: First I used a regular Kingston SD card 256 MB, played almost every game without slowdowns (except for the ones that were known to have slowdowns like Tony Hawk) later I bought a Kingston Elite Pro SD 1GB, but I don't really see the difference... (bit dissapointing) Only the file transfer PC->SD is way faster..

Hope i've answered your questions

SD card speed has never been an issue for me. The Tony Hawk issue is not an issue for everyone. I use four standard slow SD cards (1 512MB, 2 1GB, & 1 512miniSD) and Tony Hawk runs fine. The thing with SuperCard is you gotta test and see - no guaranteed same results for every person. My SC SD has been almost perfect for DS useage - no slowdowns in anything except the Castlevania video. Even that runs... it's no slideshow.

One guarantee is that SC is not great for GBA. Lots of games run great (my 512 SD is filled up with 48 working games!), but lots of games run slow, or won't even load. M3 or EZ4 is much better for GBA, but then you already know that. :)

Cool, thanks for the responses guys and gals. Seems like a small but important part of my next paycheck will be going into purchasing a SuperCard SD. I'm always afraid my SuperCard CF is going to snap off in the DS Lite.

I bought my SuperCard a while back, and have played more than enough GBA for now. I didn't have any frustrating problems with slowdown on the SuperCard CF, so I should be ok with the SuperCard SD. Looking forward to the new Final Fantasy VI for the GBA, but from what I understand, slowdowns aren't because of the SD format, just the way SuperCard is designed. I'll deal with it, can't really complain, now can I?  :D
