whenever i try to convert vids using the moonshell convertor i get the error "can not detect total play time"

but the video looks like crap, it doesnt even play smooth.

what settings should i use when i encode the videos?

I use this settings:

Audio:
-Sampling Rate: 32000     -Bitrate: 128 kbps
-use mencoder.exe. A special audio codec doesn't correspond

Video:
Width: 256              Aspect Ratio: 4/3 (fills your screen)    
Bitrate: 192 kbps     Framerate: 15 fps
Brightness: 100%
Blur: off (slide slider to the right)

Sometimes i even need to flip the video, but you'll see that soon enough when you're encoding it..

ow sorry dude.. i thought you ment the dpgenc.exe video encoder, sice that is the one you will need to convert your videofiles into DS-playable-media aka DPG (Ds-mPeG). You can directly convert any video file with this program which can be found here:

Unzip it, execute dpgenc, select your language (japanese = default) and use the directions in my other post

yeah, im using that..and it looks better now that its down to 15fps..but the quality still isnt there.
is yours the same?

I've downloaded that BatchDPG you mentioned but I keep getting errors when trying to convert the video's. Can you post the settings you should use/other programs needed?

I'm actually having problems with his latest version there too. I'm just on my way to work, but when I'm back I'll post an older version that works for me. The app has always been a little finicky though. Works I'd say about 75% of the time. When it works though, the results are amazing. The quality is at least 10x better than the encoder included with Moonshell.
