hi im new here.. i have a lot of problems like the threadstarter. and i have done an immense amount of researching on these stuffs.

this thread answered one of my question: why do we need to use flashme when we can use the supercard. which brings me to another thing i need to ask.

QNS 1: did alot of NDS users got the malware virus, or is it a minority?

QNS 2: what does the malware do? brick your DS?

i have another question though, i read the dummy guide to use the supercard. the guide seems like a harmless and easy process.  and the guide doesnt mention anything about superkey.

so the question is, QNS 3: why do we need the superkey when all we need is the supercard to play the NDS roms?

my main purpose is to play NDS roms on my NDS, so getting the supercard(with it's issues concerning GBA compatibility) is fine with me, plus it's cheaper than a G6 too. personally, i think the flashing process is too risky for me, hence i opt not to do the flashme. im a student and i dun want to see my NDS become a brick just like that.

I've flashed my superpass 2 with the superpass 2 software and the included flasher. I'm using the game bomberman (e) it's using the code abmp-o. So i've put abmp-o.gba and abmp-o.sav on my mini-sd. Do these files count as the sram files everyone's talking about here? let me get this straight for tomorrow (ill get my european nds lite then)

1. start the nds in gba mode and load abmp-0.gba
2. when the sram is loaded put my passme 2 in the nds and turn it off
3. hold x y a b and start the thing again
4. pick flashme.nds and flash the sucker using straws and toothpicks and stones and everything else i've lying around here

last question do i need to put flashme.nds on my cart using the supercard software? Or just put it on my mini-sd using explorer like i did now?

QNS1 Answer: Not really. The virus only happened once and has not been seen again, but it did destroy some people NDS's. I do not suspect that we will see very many of those things in the future. It is a tight community.

QNS2 Answer: It Destroyed/Corrupted your NDS Firmware. Made it so your NDS wouldn't boot up at all.

QNS3 Answer - Having the Supercard or other Flashcarts allows you to use Homebrew stuff . You can also store NDS games on it, but the Supercard itself does not remove the copy protection of those games. The Superkey and Passthrough devices bypasses the copy protection allowing you to run them.

Yes it will give you 2 files that you transfer to the miniSD via a Card Reader/Writer.

EXAMPLE: The name of the Rom is X.nds and run it through the program then it will give you X.nds.dsq and X.nds.sav. Take both these files and put it on the memory stick (anywhere). i made seperate folderes for NDS ROMS and GBA ROMA and ect.

You need to download the Supercard software first and put it on your PC.

Go here and get it... http://eng.supercard.cn/download.htm
Make sure you get SuperCard SoftwareV2.541 for whatever type of media you are using (CF or MiniSD/SD)

Load it up and Click ADD and pick whatever game you want to patch. Once selected, click OUT and it will create 2 files... gamename.nds.dsq & gamename.nds.sav.

Take those 2 files and place them on your CF/MiniSD/SD card. Take the media card and place it into the Supercard. Take the Supercard and place it in your NDS. Choose game and play.

Thanks, that's basically all I needed to know. I'll import a Superkey along with a Supercard mini SD tomorrow from realhotstuff.com, I assume they're a good place to order from? I haven't dealt with them before.

In fact, I've only ordered one thing online, ever. It was from play-asia, and it wasn't a device such as this. As I live in New Zealand, I'm a little worried about giving credit card details to some american online store. I was a little worried doing it with play-asia, but the recommendations were extremely positive, so I decided to take a chance.

Has anyone here dealt with realhotstuff, and have any input as to whether their international service is worthwhile?

uh...why dont you just open a paypal account, everyone uses paypal nowadays. its not hard and it takes 10 minutes. paypal is the best thing that happened to my card.
