Forgive my lack of knowledge, for this is purely intrest as I do not even OWN a PSP (well anymore it broke) but is there a SC-like device for the PSP? Or can the PSP run (ISOs?) if you put it on the memory stick? Thanks.

sonicwind

you need a downgradable psp where you downgrade its firmware to v1.5 so that you can run all stuff of the memory stick.  I think thats how you do it.

DeVS

Theres also a mod chip you can solder into the PSP called Undiluted Platinum but its expensive (like $100) and is hard as hell to install.

or just an original 1.5 or lower psp (like i have)...

but yes, you need to be at firmware 1.5 to run any of the iso loaders.  The best one out right now is devhook, which not only runs ISOs, but actually runs higher firmwares (such as 2.71) off the memory stick, allowing full firmware functionality (almost) without doing an actual upgrade.

You dont really need a supercard like device as everything can be done using soft mods, to play games and homebrew off memory card.
I havent really kept up with the PSP scene but I thought they got kernal access to 2.71 and you can run homebrew on that without downgrading (although I might be wrong on that point!)

keeps up to date on all the scene news with tutorials and downloads on how to get all your psp games and stuff running.

DeVS

Yes you can run devhook (iso loader)  on a 2.71 PSP now without downgrading it to a 1.5.

also don't you need a certain type of keyboard? a non 00-t82 or something like that?

Hehe :)

PSP stuff... here I come into my own.

Okay. Any PSP 2.71 or below right now has the capability of running isos. New psps with the 2.71 firmware that have a TA-082 motherboard have downgrade problems that WILL be solved sooner or later. Also a weakness has been exploited in 2.80, so it won't be too long before that can be downgraded too.

The PSP has amazing things to offer when you downgrade to a 1.50. Not only can you play all games in iso format through the devhook's firmware launcher, but there are emulators for almost all consoles up to the N64. A new playstation 1 emulator is also getting its first release today.

Snes and megadrive emulation is also practically perfect, playing on FS 2 with full sound in the latest emus. "Practically" because of the frameskip.

If anyone EVER needs any help that can't already be found on psp related forums, then do give me a PM.

I wish, Im on 2.8  :(

sonicwind

just wait till the new downgrader comes out.

Kaphis

so is there a way to play without using downgraders now? or is it still downgraders?....

cause I don't wana break my PSP

ImmortalNinja

DevHooks ISO loader (well dash replacement really) works with anything up to 2.71 so no need to downgrade.
I guess other homebrew may need downgrading.
