Yes, it will be very interesting to see what the extra RAM will do for homebrew.  It might even be used in future commercial products?

Do you guys know for sure that the RAM cartridge MUST be inserted in order for the browser to work?  Perhaps it's optional and inserting it only speeds things up.  In this case we may be able to run the ROM from our SCs without the use of the RAM cartridge.  Although if it did work it would probably be slow...  images would reload when you scroll up and down a page, etc.

I've heard both - yes, it's required and no, it is optional.

I just can't see browsing without some sort of cache, honestly.

I'm still wondering if anyone knows if this Japanese release of Opera will be usable for those of us who never took a lesson in the finer sides of Kanji.  In other words, does the damn thing let you set all menus and messages to English?  From these screenshots, it would almost seem so...

 

It appears that you can input alphanumeric characters (yay for us), but the dialog boxes and various buttons (like on the keyboard) are written in Japanese.  I guess only time will tell if the U.S. release of the browser is worth the wait!

I got mine.  It works better than I expected.  I can't wait to see what homebrew will do with the extended DS RAM.

LOL, that sucks DeVS... Hopefully you get it soon... But anyway, nope.  No english.  It's actually very usable though once you stumble through some basic things.  And, yeah it's slower than a PC, but it's not THAT slow like a lot of people have said.  I've already used it a few times to check email, play an online scrabble game, etc.

I think all I'd use it for is getting my email and checking forums.  That's 90% of what I do online anyway.  With pictures disabled as well, it could probably do stuff like that quite efficiently.
