I´ve tried DS Lite´s battery life with Mario kart game in every four steps of DS Lite´s brightness settings. Here are the results:
1st. Brightness setting- 10 hours and 5 minutes
2nd. Brightness setting - 8 hours and 5 minutes
3rd. Brightness setting - 5 hours and 43 minutes
4th. Brightness setting - 4 hours and 25 minutes
NOTE: I had sounds turn on. I hope it helps You and sorry for my English.:-(

but was there a ds game in the ds slot while doing this experiment?
having a ds game decreases the batterylast  time.

Yes a DS game was in the ds slot.

Thanks a lot! Been wanting to find that out but had no time to do so. Is it a flashmed ds with a cart in the ds slot or a nopass superkey or sometime.

Hey thats cool.
I was doing some power test myself. Just finished the first...

A brand new non-flashed lite using SuperKey to play Mario Kart from a super card with full brightness and full volume through head phones:
4 Hours 15 Mins

I was planning on doing the following tests this week:
Orginal Mario Kart with empty GBA slot

Then moving the battery to my flashed lite and doing:
supercard with empty ds slot
supercard with game in ds slot
orginal cart (as a control)

Anyone else think of any other tests that would be useful....I just leave it working while I'm at work anyway...

Yes this would be a great test. Many people are speculating whether passcards consume extra power when used with a gba slot based flash cart.

I'd love to see the same test with an M3 too, it would help to curb the crap about SC battery drainage.

From my own tests with a DS phat and a SCmini and EZ4, the SCmini is very slightly better than the EZ4 and roughly the same as Nintendo claim for phat DS with a real DS cart. Nintendo claim 6-10 hours on a DS phat dependant on what's being played, so an heavy action DS type game , 6 hours would be about the lot on a Phat DS. The Sc+EZ4 get slight under that from my observations... edit, this is with flashmeV7 DS phats and nothing in the DS slot.

Power test 2 just completed:

Unflased Lite with orgianal Mario Kart and empty GBA slot:
5 Hours 10 mins.

so about an hour more than the superKey/supercard combo.

Tomorrow the flashed Lite...

KK

ps I dont have a M3 so wont be able to test that.
and unless someone writes a progy that can write to the save file every minute I wont be doing any sleep mode tests either. I tried and it just too darn hard to figure out when exactly the DS powers off.....although I could use a camcorder to film the ds and a clock....

Thanks for the results 8)

I'm looking forward to the flashed Ds-lite one. My hunch is that it will be in-between the passkey/combo and original DS cart.

Time for the daily update.
Have now moved the battery to my flashed lite.
Under the same conditions (Mario Kart, flashme, max brightness and max volume through headphones, with game in DS slot0)
4 Hours 24mins

So not that much differnce from the SuperKey/Supercard combo and any difference can probably be attributed to different hardware and charging conditions.

Next, flashme and supercard with no game in the DS slot.

Thanks again.

The last test without anything in the DS-Slot is going to be of interest to many with regards to..

flashme vs passcard

and the lite has just powered down again using flashme with no card in the ds slot:
Time: 4hours 20mins.

So in summary:

These test were carried out using a supercard mini SD on DS lite with full brigthness and full volume through headphones leaving Mario Kart on the tilte screen:

Unflashed Lite - Original cart in DS slot: 5h 10 Mins
Unflashed Lite - SuperKey + Supercard sd: 4h 15 Mins
Flashed Lite - Flashme + cart in DS slot: 4h  24Mins
Flashed Lite - Flashme + empty DS slot: 4h 20 Mins.

So I guess power wise it makes very little difference if you are using flash me or superkey, or if you have a cart in the ds slot while using flashme.

Of course there is still room for differences.
The game wasnt actually played and that might make a difference if the DS slot is accessed, but I dont see why it should....

What about SuperKey + SuperCard to boot to the menu, but you remove the SuperKey before loading a game.

Thanks for doing all that testing.  Hopefully this will put to rest the speculation that having a DS game in the slot somehow consumes more battery life.
