I was wondering how to pronounce the Wii. Is it:

1) Da-ber-diu-ai-ai
2) Da-ber-diu-two
3) Weeee
4) Why
5) Why-ai

Is it in Hebrew?

i was wondering how "W" is ever pronounced "da-ber-diu"?

it sounds like inspector Clouseau trying to say "hamburger" on the pink panther movie.

[edit] i hope that's not offensive.. i'm a bit fried in the head today.. trying to edit video while doing 3 other things at the same time at work.. [/edit]

It's Wee. The 2 i's make the e draw out longer than "we".

Wishmaster

Taken that two of the most popular search engines are called 'yahoo' and 'google', 'Weee' doesn't sound that wierd after all.. the thrend of silly names is in.

Wii can represent the 2 controllers, it can also represent Wi-Fi

Can't wait for the Sony Yabadabedo in 5 years..

Thank you very much for being someone with some Japanese knowlidge (judging by your name, more then some :)).
I was getting sad thinking I was the only one here who was going to post that :).
Is there a Kanji (well 2 I would say) for the Wii (ゐつ)?

teknicz

From what I understand, there isn't the "We" sound in Japanese, it's something even the Japanese will have to learn to say. That was part of why the initial reaction from fans, both in Japan and elsewhere, was disapointment/shock.

So I don't know if you'll be able to find the kanji for that sound.

there is an "e" sound, but its not the same as the "e" sound used in roman-based alphabet, but it is similar. Somewhere between an "i" and an "e".
