Been out of the scene for a long while.  I use to use my SC SD with my GBASP/micro.  Now I wanna get a DS Lite, what else do I need buy to play backed up DS/GBA ROMs on the DS?  Thanks.

Devil_Spawn

a nopass, best and cheapest is the superkey

ohhhhh boy... can't wait for a DSL SC.

What do you need to flash the DS so you don't need a superkey? FlashME?

Is there a pic of the Supercard SD inside a DS Lite?  How many cm, does it stick out?  Right now, when it's in my micro/SP, about 1CM sticks out which isn't too bad.  I cna live with that.

To flash the DS you'd need a passme or a nopass (something like superkey, and passcard 3), SC, and FlashMe V7.

Umm, since in your micro/sp it sticks out 1cm expect to add on a little more then a cm. So alittle more then 2.

I ordered a Superkey, so when I get that, I can use it to flash other DS Lites?  Cool.

2cm isn't too bad, I can live with that.  But I might look at getting a Super card MiniSD.  Thanks.

I don't understand the whole Flashing of the DS.  I have a Supercard and a Superkey/Passme...and I've never "flashed" anything except the updated SC firmware.  I dunno what flashing the DS does.  Everything works for me right out of the box.

Flashing makes it so you dont need a superkey/passme

I see.  Personally, I don't mind having the superkey in the NDS slot, but...to each their own.

I just flashed my NDSL with a superkey and Flashme v7.  It went fine.  Scared the shit out of me doing it...  But it when to 100% and it restarted fine, loaded some of my backed up games.  But my variable level of brightness setting is gone.   when I tap, it's either on or off... what gives?

I believe this happens if you used an older or beta version of flashme. Try finding the latest version from an official site, and installing that.

Another advantage to flashme: protects your DS from being bricked! without flashme installed, if you run malicious code on the DS, you could become the proud owner of a Nintendo Paperweight.

I found a newer version of the flashmen on gbatemp and all is well.  I flashed my DSL twice!!  The second time, it just won't sort it and I had to move the thing around a bit,  scared me half to death thinking, how I can't get it to work..

Now brightness level works!!

BTW, in the future how do I find out what version of flashme I have installed on my DSL?  Basically the version of the firmware.  I remember there was a way for my GBASP where you would hold down some keys when you powered it on.

davr2

to find out flashme & firmware version, just run flashme again, it prints it at the bottom (but don't actually start the flashing and it's perfectly safe)

I would wait a bit and pass on the miniSD. The microSD Supercard should be out soon, and hopefully it won't stick out of the DS lite at all!
