Quote from: "ghaxaq"Did someone try the supercard with wifime ??? So next week I will go and buy one

Currently I do not have a passme or wifime, and I installed the kernel, but I cannot load gba saves such as relatime with the shortcuts. Any help ??!
Get the new 2.40 SC software and repatch fresh copies of the roms.
I got the same problems, but it work fine now.
Maybe romman changed the patch engine? Or just changed the key commands for use of NDS 4 frontal buttons?

Ok guys (and the unlikely chance of gals here).
After the update, can you still use the Supercard on the normal GBA/GBASP?
I don't want to update if it somehow becomes incompatible.  I bring all 3 when I'm on trips and despite the DS having a large capacity battery, I still need the other 2 :)

sneef

yes you can still use it in a normal GBA.  BUT, you have to re-patch your roms with the new supercard software.  or else you can't access any in-game saving (or any saving at all, for that matter).

Thanks sneef.
I guess I'll pass Riviera first then do the upgrade :)
Though I own the original cart, realtime saving helps tons.

Besides the DS support, is there any reason to upgrade to this firmware? Do the menus look/work any better or something, or is it basicly just DS supported added? I don't know if its worth it for people to upgrade, especially when it might be buggy.

sneef

Because Romman has not released any documentation with the upgrade, it's hard to know what may or may not have been optimized.  However, I've been using the new firmware all day (its my day off), and I have not noticed any changes other than DS mode support.  hope that helps

Directly from the romman site:

Update(2005.07.07):NDS firmware 1.50 and SC software 2.40 released

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Support NDS comercial roms and homebrew, but only support SC special comercial ROMS.
Support both GBA mode and NDS mode, if you have PASSME or SuperPass, there is a NDS mode menu on up screen, and a SuperCard logo on down screen. Both GBA games and NDS games will list on the menu.
GBA support like before, only list GBA games without PASSME or SuperPass.
1.50 firmware for GBA games should be used with SC software 2.40.
NDS roms and demo do not need to covert.
NDS Patch Program is in programming, clear roms can be coverted by user.

It would be nice to know if there are some improvements on the GBA roms... like for example yoshi island or advance wars... can someone of you who installed the new kernel try these?

sneef

I tried.  No change that i can tell.. :(

I have a problem with the new khernel. I installed it, but i cant see the nds roms in the list. And if i try to install it again, it says i have the 1.2 version instead of 1.5 (or 1.4 i had before), but does nothing when i try to upgrade the firmware...

sneef

1. The "1.2" instead of 1.5 is just a glitch.

2. Are you using a PassMe, or FlashMe? the menu only shows the nds roms when running in NDS mode..  IF you boot without a passme/flashme, it will boot in GBA mode, therefore not showing the NDS roms.

hope that helps

Thanks, someone said me that a Passme wasnt needed for SC, it seems he was wrong. Ill search for a Passme/Flashme... which is cheaper?

joele

FLASHME is an actual hack to the firmware of the DS rather than a card than can be removed... personally I prefer a removable card to modifying the device...

You can get the PASSME from here for $25...

http://www.dspassme.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=31

Or for $29 from here you can get the cleaner looking MAGICKEY

http://www.ic2005.com/html/2005/show-28.htm

I am sure there are more shops these are just the ones I know of, and the SUPERPASS will probably come out soon(ish)?

look

Can anyone mirror the supercard 1.50 software please

Is there a way to flash the ds without using a passme or wifime, but simply using the gba cart ??

And do all the RT2500 wireless cards work so I can use wifime to flash my nds??

Thanks

You can use wifime just like a passme to run DS code off the gba slot, without having to use the hardware passme/neo key/superpass. A good thing to run off the DS slot with wifime: flashme ;) I personally used a passme to put flashme on my ds a couple months ago and havent been sorry since.

Look to sites like gbadev.org forums (pls. do use their search feature instead of just asking, there is tonnes of info there on wifime etc) to find more info (and a general RaLink card compatibility list) on how to use the wi-fi DS apps, I dont have a wifi card so cannot help.

Nice with the SC ds update, all homebrews I have handy (the ds.gba versions with loaders already added, and then renamed the file to .nds) work for me without patching,, even the beta snesDS :)

I compared a few that come from the demos in the supercard torrent, and they are all unchanged homebrews (not patched at all) but in some cases (like the flashme) the version is quite old.
