Q:  What is the Supercard?

A:  The Supercard is a GBA backup / development device, manufactured (we think) by Romman.  Official Supercard websites include //www.supercard.cn, //www.romman.net, and //www.cftogba.com

Q: How does the Supercard work?

A:  The Supercard contains 256Mb (256 megabits = 32 megabytes) of RAM, some control circuitry, and a Compact Flash Memory (CFM) socket.  When you boot your GBA or NDS, the firmware of the Supercard displays a boot menu containing a list of programs or games on the CFM.  You select a program and the Supercard loads it from the slow CFM to the fast RAM so that the GBA can execute it.

Q:  Why is there only 256Mb of RAM in the Supercard?  I know I can get a 512Mb or a 1Gb flash cart!

A:  The GBA can only access 256Mb of RAM or ROM at this point.  Later, programmers may be able to increase this limit with bankswitching circuitry, but for now 256Mb is as much as the GBA can use.  Besides, the biggest ROMs available at this point are 256Mb, and since the fast RAM can only hold one game at a time, 256Mb is plenty.

Q:  How many games can I put on a Supercard?

A:  That depends on the size of the CFM you use.  One MB (megabyte) = 8 Mb (megabits.)  Therefore a 256Mb game (Kingdom Hearts, Urbz, etc.) is 32 MB.  Multiply your CFM megabyte size by 8 to see how many megabits of programs it will hold.  A 64MB CFM will have about 60-62MB free once formatted, and will therefore hold 480-496 megabits worth of programs uncompressed.  Please keep in mind that the Supercard software will generate 64kB .SAV and 448kB .SCI files to use for saving, so for every 2 games you put on the Supercard, you need one megabyte of space for savers.

Hi men,

Just been on the compatibility list : impressive ! Were did you get all the release info in ready-to-paste text format?

When my SC will arrive, I'll make sure to contribute to that list.

Cheers,
Vince

If you run GBA-Renamer on an empty directory it will generate a full GBAMiss.txt list.  Getting the list complete is very important because compatibility is probably the biggest problem with the Supercard right now.  Any help with testing games is appreciated.

Doesn't GBA-Renamer use the same 'list' as OfflineList?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure.  I just spent all this time removing duplicate lines from the list that GBA-Renamer makes, and now I've found out that OfflineList doesn't generate those to begin with.  Seems like the easiest way to do this is with OfflineList.

yeah the offlinelist of course  :|

im getting very fat :doubt:
