Its fair enough that you don't like Darkfader but you're  not looking at the entire picture if you think he was the majority cause in this.

Yeah well, anyway another great ds dev is leaving and seems to be for the same reason, whatever is that is happening it doesn't seem it will be fixing itself so soon, I'm kinda afraid for the ds HB scene.

Dragonminded is not a drama queen. I can fully understand why he is so upset. He is working really hard and spending hours and hours of his time for pretty much nothing in return, except maybe the satisfaction of giving happiness to strangers he will never meet. I don’t know what happened exactly, but when under such a situation and people you are trying to help start making disapproving remarks, and calling you names, it is very reasonable for you to get pissed off and stop helping them. Also, I don’t think he has gotten enough thanks for what he has done. All I ever see is complaints and requests on forums. He is human just like everyone else. He quitted and came back once because he got pissed off, but then decided it is not worth sacrificing the happiness of all those DSOrganize users for something a random DS developer said.

Dragonmind, I thank you for all your hard work. I hope I will see your work again, once all the drama dies down.

Thats sorta my point, he didn't say he was quiting because people were complaining about his work or not thanking him enough, he said he was quiting because of the irc chat room drama which had nothing to do with his work or it's users.

I think this entire DSOrganize issue is kind of pointless and silly. People should not worry about the state of homebrew development and the so called "splitting" of the development scene. Most homebrew developers could give a shit about taking sides. I believe we have yet to see the best of the homebrew scene. Expect better applications to replace DSOrganize.

If DragonMinded is burnt out and wants to move on then it's his prerogative. I think it's a real shame only two people ever donated anything to DragonMinded. It's no wonder he's ready to move on. I do appreciate the fine work he has done and the source code he has made public.

A lot of people are probably a bit clueless to what all the recent Nintendo DS scene drama has been all about. Basically, you’ve got two coders who don’t see eye to eye and after a chain of events one of them quits the scene, rants about it and gets a lot of attention from various scene news sites. Attention? Well, a good copying and pasting of what DragonMinded the very talented and now semi famous author of one of the most refined pieces of homebrew for the Nintendo DS, DSOrganize, had to say about the situation.

In a nutshell, you’ve got two talented coders who have taken their disagreement into the public eye and has caused a bit of a stir up in an already shaken community. On the other side of the issue (which I will get to shortly) is StoneCypher whom maintains and helps out on higher level coding for the growth of the scene. A few days ago DragonMinded got into an argument with StoneCypher leading StoneCypher to put him on ignore which caused DragonMinded to explode and leave.

After this event happened DragonMinded posted the following two messages on his own personal blog. Note that the first second post was made in response to StoneCypher defending himself in the replies made to the original blog entry.

FUCK the Scene(*1)

“I'm flat out tired of this bullshit. There is nothing but rot left in the DS scene. From SC splitting the scene to card makers not releasing drivers and everything inbetween, it is just fucking ROTTEN. I quit. Good fucking riddance. I hope you are happy. If you want to complain about this, go see the people in #dsdev and #mellowdsdev on efnet
Later he posted this:”

How DARE You StoneCypher

“This isn't about the shit you have caused in #dsdev and #mellowdsdev. This isn't about the lies you spread, or any of the bullshit you cause. This is directly between you and me. How DARE you use my blog comments to spread your ****ing shit on how I am a liar. You have some nerve after all that you have said to me and about me. I don't care how vehemently you deny these alligations to the public. For all I care, you can spread your propaganda all over the scene channels and all over the forums. But I KNOW that you know what you did, and I KNOW you know how you treated me, and yet, you use my blog against me.”

Okay, so from reading the two posts you can immediately tell that SC (StoneCypher) and some feeling toward development unit manufacturers has really ticked of DragonMinded and he is “leaving” the Nintendo DS scene. Well, my sources indicate this is the 3rd time he’s left the scene. The two posts are pretty brief and leave some questions to be answered.

First of all, why is DragonMinded so ticked off at StoneCypher? Can it be just like StoneCypher told me �" which it was over a simple rant. Yeah, when talking with StoneCypher I was informed DragonMinded likes to rant a lot and so does he. This was confirmed by various other members of the development community. So this occurrence is nothing new. So why all the fuss?

Second one must ask what the deal with the entire #dsdev/#mellowdsdev situation(*2-4). Well, from what I can tell I’ve got a fuzzy idea of what went down. Basically, around the time DarkFader released the Trojan and was kicked from #dsdev #mellowdsdev was created. When speaking with DarkFader he insisted he didn’t start the channel and simply joined it when another member of #dsdev was banned. On the other side you’ve got StoneCypher (one of the operators of the #dsdev IRC channel) who claims DarkFader created the new channel and is blaming him for all of the drama.

What drama? Well, if the FuckTro(*5) doesn’t spell it out for you certain members of both channels really don’t get along with each other. Additionally, the fact that these members have power in each channel there was some adjusting to do before things settled down. So after #mellowdsdev was created StoneCypher and a few others of the #dsdev operators created a new IRC channel on the Blitzed network.

So now you’ve got two channels controlled by rivals and people are wondering which one to go to, who to support or just really don’t care and idle (sit all day) in both channels. I visited both channels for a day and the new #dsdev on Blitzed was way more active then #mellowdsdev. I was actually told by an operator in #mellowdsdev that the place is usually “quiet” hence the “mellowness”.

Okay, confused yet? Where does DragonMinded fit into the equation? He just happened to get fed up of the whole deal and has decided to leave the scene, again. Personally, I think leaving means closing down shop and moving on, but DragonMinded is still actively posting on various forums and to this date his website is still online. So in all reality he has just switched places.

Want some more of my own opinions? Well, you’re going to get some. I think that having more then one IRC channel is a good sign. The scene is growing. Each channel has its own atmosphere and are good resources for developing for the console. What about the drama? Well, everyone either loves drama or loves to hate it. It’s a consistent part of life that you can’t avoid �" so just get over it. Of course getting over it might require some action, such as posting about a personal problem in your blog, but isn’t that what blogs are for? Shouldn’t one expect a little drama in someone’s personal life?

In the end I think all will be well and the scene will thrive. If you haven’t noticed this drama hasn’t slowed down any releases, made anyone else quit or stopped the flow of the water in the East Atlantic Ocean.

Lastly, there is the argument about support by the development unit manufacturers. I won’t touch this one too much as I’m not a programmer, but the members of #mellowdsdev really want the M3/G6 Team to release more code(*6) that deals with their unit so they can develop more efficiently for it, but that’s coming from a channel run by a person banned for creating a program to destroy Nintendo DS systems (*7) and works for a rival company(*.
