It seems like any of the homebrew i try has some kind of problem either accessing a config file, looking for a folder that is there but is not found or creating a new file that fails.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

SuperCard Lite

try patching it with the moonshell patcher, other than that it is simply the incompatibility that the sclite has

Is there a specific file of homebrew you are trying to run? Also, the latest DSO blue cannot be patched with the moonshell patcher, just an fyi.

dsftp, beup, dsmail and others all seems to have either problems finding files/folders that are there, creating a file/folder or writing to a config file.

When using DSFTP, you can place the main *.nds file anywhere, but create a "data" folder on the root of your microSD's structure; inside this folder, create two more folders named "logs" and "settings"; place your "ftp.conf" file inside of the "settings" folder.  The "log" folder is where DSFTP will write its log file, but I recommend disabling DSFTP write access, as I've discovered DSFTP will cause file corruption on the FAT 20% of the time.  I only use DSFTP to transfer files from the microSD memory to my PC--backing up .sav files etc.
