I might have destroyed my DS... please help

Here's what happened. I was trying to flash my DSL following the instructions here: http://www.monroeworld.com/ds/hacking/updatelitesuperkey.php?PHPSESSID=7c042954a5ae7daa03166c981ee0df02

I have a SuperKey and SuperCard SD. I followed it up until it got to 28% finished and my DS just shut off. I can boot back to the SC menu by holding A+B+start+select then turning it back on. I can see the menu, but the lighting is a bit poor. When I select the Flashme thing, it takes me back, but once I short the circuit, the power goes off. I AM plugged into the wall. Is there anything I can do to finish the process, or maybe an extra program I should run? I was using the Flashme that keeps the warning screen.

I'm desperate here. Please help, I can't fork out another $150 fora new DS, plus my parents are gonna be pissed if I can't fix this.

EDIT: btw, I used the stealth version

make sure you arent shorting out sl1 with the screw right next to it. ive flash many ds lites and if your battery is full there really is no need for it to be plugged in. is the flashme file you are using around 500kb?

ohhhhh boy... can't wait for a DSL SC.

sonicwind

the kb is not the problem because that just affects brightness settings.  But i think since thers some metal right next to the SL1 you have to put tape all around your flashing tool so you don't short anything else.

darkunitzero

the reason i asked if it was 500kb because the light got dim and before he attempts flashing again i wanted to make sure he had the correct file

for the sl1 short, just use a tooth pick and some tin foil. theres a screw in the next hole over. stay away from that! just continue until it reaches 100%. if you dont have someone to tell you the percentage its at just use a mirror.

It's 526 KB. FlashMe Stealth (V7). I was very careful not to short anything else. I got a nail with a ground down point and wrapped it in electrical tape.

When I start up FlashMe again, and short it, the DS shuts off.

Is it possible to run NoFlashMe from here and start again? Or can you even use that with Stealth... not to mention the fact that FlashMe doesn't recognize the firmware.

No , do not run noflashme. if you flash and mess up, youre done for.

as for the short, you have to be touching something other then the sl1 short. try again with a toothpick with foil and be steady. the oringal firmware not being detected is normal, it happens with ds lites so dont worry about it.

OK thanks. I was about to run it... Here's a picture. I think I'm shorting the correct one... all the tutorials say to short the one on the left.

I tried it again with a toothpick wrapped in foil with the same results... I wait until it get's to the menu that shows my percentage, put the toothpick in, and it just shuts off. Just so you know, it's plugged in still.

I'll try to post a video in a few minutes if I can find somewhere to host it.

Looking at your picture above it seems like you understand what you are doing.  Perhaps you are running into the same "shut off" problem described by Daveychan in this thread . . .

If so, then you need to make sure you don't loose contact with SL1 during the flashing process. Luckily you are at 28% so you are far enough along to keep trying again and again.

Don't worry, there are ways to recover a DS Lite even if it gets "bricked".  If all else fails I can recover and re-flash your DS Lite for you . . .

Another option would be to exchange your DS Lite for a new one and try again. Usually the "shut off" problem doesn't happen and flashing goes very easy.

The strangest thing just happened... as I was filming the video, when I put the toothpick in... it suddenly worked. This was the first time I had tried to use an insulated toothpick and it worked perfectly. Both slots are working fine and I have my light back. Thank you guys for the help. I guess I shoulda tried the toothpick to begin with... but my dad talked me into using a nail. I find this kinda strange though that the toothpick of all things worked and the nail didn't... and I guess it must have been touching something else to begin with too because it wasn't properly insulated. I need to specifically thank darkunitzero though for the heads up about the toothpick.
