Look at this

It seems like a nice start.  It looks promising, and shows that they are trying to make it work for the DS.  I guess what is nice is that the graphics are nice and they support the touch screen more.  And since I liked Rune Factory's controls a little, they might go that direction as well.

I was really disappointed with Harvest Moon DS, it was really the GBA version with some extra stuff tacked on.  As a fan of Harvest Moon, I was really disgusted.  But Rune Factory showed me that the Harvest Moon series could look really nice on the DS, and I hope this one will be the best of both Harvest Moon DS and Rune Factory.

I was pretty disappointed with Harvest Moon DS as well. Me and my gf were eagerly awaiting it, but the second we saw that it was nothing more than the GBA game with a few nifty features, we immediately stopped playing.

This game looks a LOT better, and it ships out in December of this year? Maybe the Harvest Moon DS was some GBA game they had in development, which they quickly released on the DS, and this new one is their first true Harvest Moon DS game? An island sounds like fun!

And those graphics look gorgeous!

ive never played harvest moon but wanted to start...you think this would be a good one to start with? i dont care if its a gba clone...because ive never played the gba one  :D

A good one to start with is the GBA version.  It is good, and you won't think the graphics suck because it is GBA.

I started playing the DS version, having only played the N64 version for a short amount of time, now Im addicted to it, seems like a pretty indepth game.

It isn't that it is bad.  It is just that we've played the same game before.  This game is just the GBA version (Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town) added with the bottom screen, which isn't that great...  The game, playable on GBA, it seems that it is below what the DS is capable of.  Added with the success of Rune Factory, it doesn't look to good.  But in no way is it a bad game, just doesn't live up to expectations.

HM:DS was, as you'd recall, fairly old a DS title. It's just that the translation took so long.

Still, you're right, there's nothing hugely different or amazing about it.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
