They posted a bunch of new pics on the site and confirmed that release date.

On a close examination of the pics... anyone else notice how few preview cases have the promised 9 stereo holes?

ihopeyoudie2

I just recieved my clear case. I'll post a pic after I put this thing together. Watch out when you open the little black box... it looks solid but the pieces just fall out.

Good luck fitting it, i replaced my ds phat shell when my kid snapped the stock shell.  Spent 2-3 hours , couldnt drive the screws into the new shell (which comes without threads)...ended up blowing a fuse and sending it off to experts and landed with a 45quid bill. About 1 month later my kid cracked the replacement shell in same spot ...

I agree with earlier poster that would only do this if need to, and be armed with a decent electrical screwdriver as will need to use serious force to thread    those tiny screws.

My kid now owns the phat with a glued hinge...i got the lite

How long did it take for shipping?  I cant decide if im going to wait for real hot stuff to get theres or buy it directly from nds-central.com

Edit:  also did you get the gba slot cover?

ihopeyoudie2

Bricked. The kit was missing two pieces, so originals were used as substitutes. The Y button and the bottom half of the GBA slot cover. They did include an extra A button to make up for it though :-/ The packaging was nice enough and they shipped it out fast. Too bad about the whole bricking my DS thing. Reusing the original screws was a huge mistake I think. Anyone who doesn’t clean the plasic ribbon from the screw threads before reuse, is probably going to get screwed. By the way its official, NO SCREW COVERS INCLUDED. The plastic looks cool though. So does the bad ass blister on my finger from the screw driver. Oh, and did I mention back pain from being hunched over for over 4 hours? I’m bitter. I followed the directions provided by the website to the key by the way. WARNING, there is a dangerous bit of plastic that was hanging over the ribbon wire’s slit. If you slide the ribbon wire through it without clearing the track’s end.. you’ll have a totaled top screen.

The plastic is really nice quality and props to the instructions. The above issues aside I might consider doing this to anther DS in the future.

By the way my DS shuts off when I turn it on now. Theres a blue flash on the bottom screen, any tips?

I got it direct which was suprisingly fast consdering it was from hong kong or whereever. I've ordered from RHS in the past though and they sent my supercard lite fast and it arrived in just a couple of days.

If I have this case, RHS already has their cases too. Meaning they'll have them up on their site soon and instock. On the other hand you'll be waiting a few days longer if you order direct from Hong Kong.

Okay so are you saying you cut your top screen ribbon?  When you turn your ds on and the bottom screen is the only one that lights up that means that your top screen is not attached correctly.  That kind of sucks you are missing them pieces.  Why was it a mistake to reuse the original screws?

ihopeyoudie2

Sorry I was so vague about the ribbon danger. I noticed it in time but there was a piece of plastic left from the mold that would have surely torn the ribbon, it might have scraped it even though I did my best to scrape it off. Its true the top screen is none responsive but I think I locked it back in properly, the bottom screen barely flashes blue. It happens so fast I had to try turning it on a few times before I could tell what color it was. And it's a mistake to reuse the original screws because they have crap from the original DS still on their threads, it makes them particularly difficult to insert in the new cases. For example the screws that go into the LED lite got stuck and couldn't go in all the way... I have a blister on my finger.

Besides the screwdrivers, I think 2 other things should have been included, plugs for all of the screw holes and a set of screws. Luckily Hori makes a clear set of screw hole plugs but you're out on your ass for the screws as far as I can see.

If the top screen doesn't power on at all try reinserting the ribbon and push it in as far as it can go. I have opened my phat many times and always seem to have that problem.  The case looks cool though. You should put LEDs in it, I posed on nds-central on how to do it http://www.nds-central.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=88
This is a little off topic but is that a HP pavilion DV1000 laptop? I have one and it looks just like that

ihopeyoudie2

Sure is. I remember there being a thread on this board about how the digital media slot doesn't read 2gig SD cards, 2 or 3 other people had the same laptop. I've been looking for a cheap way to upgrade the memory on it for a while now... It got really slow out of no where even though it doesn't have any spyware on it.

Mine got really slow after installing 200 some programs on it so I upgraded my ram to 1.5GBs and now its fast again.  I had the problem with the 2gb micro sd card, but its fixed now, just had to keep trying it and it worked over time.
You should contact nds-central about the missing pieces. I had the same thing happen to me on my ds phat but lucky I had the original x button that was the same color

update: took 3 tries and now my ds boots again. I think I didn't PUSH the top screen's flatwire in the first time I put this thing together. The right corner is still wobbly and feels like its going to break, and the right trigger doesn't work if I screw the outside case together all the way. BUT this is user error, its because the screws for the LED mount stick out slightly, I believe this is because I didn't make sure the pegs from the LED cover were properly attatched to the main body when I was screwing the LED mount screws.

EDIT: the gba cart piece wasn't included in the first place and the site i bought the shell from is sending me a Y and LED mount cover so I can try to fix this.

So does this mean that if I order it now, he'll send me the screwpads later?
