Please... give peace a chance...

A proxy is usually set up so that they have some kind of web content filtering. If they have 2 ways for you to access the web, one with proxy, and one that bypasses a proxy, that would defeat the purpose of having the proxy in the first place, if it is for content filtering.

Another reason for proxies is for speed, or caching, but since speed is your problem now, it probably is because of content filtering since you ARE in a school. Usually that means u are allowed to use the web and not do other funky stuff like downloading from bit torrents.

But it is possible, that your network is configured in such a way that if you point your gateway to the one that your proxy is gaining access to the internet you can bypass it. Though its unlikely, unless its ill configured. The proxy and the gateway it uses could be on a separate network of their own, or the gateway could be configured to allow only certain IP range anyway....

So if you disabled your proxy setting in IE and can't use the web, you can try finding out the gateway IP and use it but don't get your hopes high. I would agree that just go home and do your surfing at home is the best bet if in restricting environments.

Well that was neither sarcastic nor condescending if you ask me, and when it comes to what I do I prefer you ask me. Anyway let's make this clear; you do mean that you can't access Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings because they somehow blocked it?

I mean I can't access that because they have all student accounts set up not to allow you to do that, NOT have it blocked via proxy (which is impossible)

Mavromatis

Ok if we passed that option, let's try the second one. Can you download and run exe files? Probably you can't but just to be sure.

exzapel

I am 99% sure i can RUN exe files, I could always download a file and put it on my usb key.

I am not sure If I can install anything though.

if you can at least get out onto the net you can use this page to bypass hosts not allowed

Will that bypass the proxy within IE?

Dudu.exe

there is a site like google ..  that you put the adress and it show the page to you even if it blockec...  i will try to find out the adress tomorow and post here...

exzapel

It uses some norton proxy that even blocks terms, like I could come here, look at all the posts, and try to look at a post that has the word "game" in it 20 times and it will be blocked rather than, a set list of addresses are blocked.

Try deleting the value of "AutoConfigureURL" in thge registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

After restarting your browser any central managed IE settings will be gone.

If this is a public high school, you really shouldn't be wasting tax payer money looking to pirate games.

Ooh, something I actually know about...

Dont bother to read this if you dont wanna be bored

Is your proxy software or hardware controlled, and is it serverside software, or clientside software?

If the proxy is run by an application on the main server, youre kinda screwed. You could try to hack the server, but that would take a while to learn if youve never tried to break into something. Ill post a few short methods of attack.

Don't take anything out on me if you decide to try and break into the school computers and you get caught. I myself have learned to break into other systems by practising on myself (I set up fake boxes and systems), but I have never done any Illegal hacking. HACK AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The key to hacking is pacience (I dont think thats spelled right). Whatever  happens, you will keep needing to change, update, and retry LOADS of strategies and theories you have, as you discover and exploit any loopholes in the software. If you lack pacience, drop it now.

If the server is connected by a router (which is likely, even though your school seems to have max. security), then there are a few things you can try. You might want to read up on ARP spoofing.

Also keep in mind that most applications dont need to be installed to run. The process of installation is merely a simplification of extracting copying files. Most programs only need the files in the "Program files" folder to run, although some more coplex programs also put dlls and other files into your windows directory. (I assume your computers at school are using windows, because they use IE). I dont know if there are, but there may be some custom browsers that need no installation and are only 1 file.

If your school server is a windows system (highly unlikely - for that level of security I would use a *nix system), you could try to get the password for the administrator account by cracking the password (this can take a LONG time!), although how how you would get the hash is a problem.

All windows computers on a pretected network have a hidden SAM file (read up on this) which contains a hash for an admin password. The problem is that this is used when windows is run. You could use a bootable *nix OS to access the files.

Im confused. WHY would they block my computer but not Iexplorer. Any idiot can type in "file:///C:/" or even just "C:". Darn, school admins are getting stupider by the day.

Be very careful. At my school, the admins have a piece of software which lets them monitor whatever is going on on which computer (akthough using a *nix system would probably override this).

I know you dont like being told to use google :D , but it really is the most powerful tool on the net.

Hardware proxies are run by the router/switch/etc. and are generally harder to crack that software proxies owing to that fact that they have a limited interface. You can however still spoof.

clientside software is easier to get rid of or bypass (assuming someone else has tried it first). Find out what software it is, and search to see if anybody else has managed to create a program whichbypasses that proxy. I say it is easier, because no breaking into another computer through a line is needed, but in many cases it might be harder, as you may have to write your own software :?

Hope that cleared some stuff up. Learn how to do that stuff and u can be a  1337 H4X0r (lol jk.. im so bored I cant believe im writing this...)

Why not? After all, learning to pirate games is a type of education. And besides, ultimately youre making more tax money:

Taxpayers ---> Schools ---> Students learn to pirate games ---> money saved ---> More money available to be spent on tax.

Besides, whats the chance he DOESNT live in america, I know I dont

QuoteI meant within IE, like if I wanted to surf the web without my school's annoying proxy block, which also slows down the web considerably.

So when will w know more
