According to YYJoy.com the AceKard Slot 1 flashcart is ready for its launch!

Translation from the YYJoy article goes on to say that the AceKard team is preparing for the product launch in the next few days and that YYJoy will have some sort of contest or control over some of the product. The translation is very hard to understand but they do mention something about a gift for 100 Yuan ($13). So far the AceKard team has gotten Moonshell working on the device as well as Tony Hawk's Down Hill Jam. The device is rumored to be launching with a very low price of around $40-60. The AceKard uses its own file system (AKFS) but does support clean ROMs including DS Download Play and microSD memory. The device is supposedly also able to be used as a no pass device for other Slot 2 flashcarts and is able to utilize saves from them as well. The AceKard will be the first real competition for the DS-X so we'll just have to wait and see how this battle turns out.

Current Specs from AceKard.com:
* Same size as genuine DS card.
* Flashme/Passme is NOT required.Plug-and-Play
* Low electricity consuming,appoximating genuine DS card’s.
* Support CleanRom directly.
* Compatible all DS games.
* Support link slot2.
* Flashcard in slot2 can be started directly by AceKard.
* Infinity Capacity!
* Use high speed TF card.Put more games as you will.
* NO any latency when playing game.
* Perfect Save System.
* Use original flash chip.Never lose your save.
* Use other flashcard’s save files directly.
* DIY interface
* Tiny boot core.
* The menu program is in TF card.

Be sure to keep me posted on where to get these. They seem worth the price.

Hmm, we'll have to see what the SC team puts out to combat this one, not much more you can improve on. Although SCs do that their firm english support.

Sounds very impressive, but "Use high speed TF card" worries me. I've got one of those "dinosaur" standard-speed microSDs...

An admin at gbatemp (Costello) has hinted that news of another microSD-using Slot1 product should be announced tomorrow, so hang on to yer wallets.

I like the sound of that! More choices are better for all!

I am very happy with the SClite I own right now. However, especially since I've started using Opera on my DS, a slot-1 flashcart would be more convenient for me. In addition, I like that I'll never have to worry about patching ROMs anmore, assuming that the "100% compatibility" claim is accurate. After all, as far as I can see from some of the threads popping up on here and over at GBAtemp, the DS-X didn't live up to all of its expectations, in some cases (whether or not the instances of incompatibility were the result of poor manufacturing are unbeknownst to me).

I am never one to jump the gun and buy a product of this sort as soon as it launches. Instead, I'll let some of our more wealthy board members do that so they can tell the rest of us how this device sizes up with some the other carts on the market, ha :-)

One feature I wasn't previously aware of that I quite like about the AceKard is its ability to start-up whichever cart is residing in slot-2. The original post on this thread boasts, "Flashcard in slot2 can be started directly by AceKard." Although the list of features makes no mention of homebrew support, one could leave their current slot-1 cart in for that purpose. I would never want to do this, though, since leaving my slot-1 bay open for the Opera memory expansion pack is contributing greatly to my desire for a slot-1 solution in the first place!

All in all, I can't say that I'm not excited for the release of the AceKard!

UPDATE: I just read that the AceKard does, in fact, require you to run your ROMs through patching software for some sort of file-system correction. The outputted files are still considered "clean," though.

That’s not a new product, lol! They think they have an exclusive but that info is even in my flashcart and homebrew guide from months ago. It was called the Ninja DS Pocket and only had 1Gbit (128MB) of space. The change to microSD is a well added addition as it now makes this product a contender but if they can't get it to sit 100% flush in the DS slot then they can count many users out. Also if the Ninja DS Pocket is anything like the other models they have quite a bit of work to do before this thing is ready for production.

We are happy to announce a new DS ("slot-1") linker: the MicroNinja !
Behind this title hides a new product by the NinjaDS team, a slot-1 solution and this time it's the same size as a normal DS cart! No more big ugly sticking out or u-shape!
