quick question, why are they turnabouts? is it to do with the translation or something?

I think its because you start off with nothing and win, it turns around.  All the cases in the first were turnabouts too

Gyakuten Saiban can be roughly translate into "reversal of justice", and I do believe all the cases in the japanese version are named reversal something or something reversal.  So turnabout is just another way of saying that I guess.

I gotta say that I cannot wait for Gyakuten Saiban 3 to be ported to English.  I know the translation project exists with support for case 3-1, but I want to play the whole thing!

Phoenix Wright 1 and Phoenix Wright 2 are some of the best games I've played in a long time.  The characters, stories and writing are just top notch.  I'm looking forward to PW3 and PW4!

Don´t someone have problems in Episode 3 when you find a broken bottle. I read the walkthough and there says, that you must to talk to Galactica, but he isn´t in detention center!!! wtf?b
