Is my SC SD dying?

Lately, my SC has been problematic at start - I have to switch the DS on and off several times because the menu won't come on or it says "not found SD". Are these the symptoms of a dying SC? :(

I get that when I *somehow* don't jack in the memcard the right way. Try removing the SD card and plugging it in again.

I do, and it works. But I leave the SC on the DS and this has to be done EVERYTIME I power it on. Didn't happen a month ago.

I've seen the exact same symptom with a SC miniSD that someone sent to me for Service. When the DS+SC was powered off for few minutes then turned back on again, the SC would boot with garbage on the screen, and sometimes boot with the message SD not found. If the DS was turned off then immediately turned back on again (5 or 10 times) the Supercard menu would eventually come up.

The reason why the Supercard was acting like this was because a component on the Supercard PCB had fallen off.  The component in question was C11. I think C11 is a capacitor. Make sure there isn't something loose inside the Supercard case, specifically C11.

So, it sounds to me like you have a hardware problem with your Supercard.

If you want you can try my free Supercard firmware recovery service . . .

are you based in the UK if so i will buy the supercard from you

sardaukar

Everything is tightly put and firm on the SC (no "chiclet effect"), what makes it even weirder.

make sure your not getting sram errors...my old supercard lite does that and it has tons of errors

marzxbarz

That happened to me all the time when I had my SCSD. The culprit was my cheap A-Data 150x card. Even if I didn't move the card at all it would eventually give me the error again. All the tests went smoothly except for the SD card error when it couldn't read it ('SD not found' error)

Do you have another SD card you can try?

I have always had that problem from the get go. But I've learned that after powering the NDS off, If I wait ten seconds and then I turn it back on there is no problem !!!

Grrr! My SC isn't dying, it's my Passcard 3!! Only boots up 1 out of 4 times. What the hell?

Devil_Spawn

check the contacts/ try cleaning them

sardaukar

They're clean. Guess my only choice is getting a refund or trade it at the store for a new one (it's still under warranty). I don't get it with something without moving parts and that never leaves it's place (I keep it always on SLOT1) gets busted.
