Dark spot on top LCD screen

Hey guys!

I recently bought a used nintendo DS lite on ebay, and started using it yesterday. When I got it I didn't see any imperfections on any of the LCD screens, but as of today, I have a dark spot about 8mm x 4mm in size right in the middle of the top LCD screen. It started out as a tiny black circle and it slowly grew in size. Have a look for yourselves:

(Sorry for the crappy quality...I only have a webcam :/)

Now, these aren't actually dead pixels...it just seems to be a spot where light doesn't reflect as well. For example, if the DS is turned off and there's a bright light behind me, I can see my reflexion on the screen but the area where the spot is is a lot darker. When the DS is turned on, it's very hard to notice, unless the whole screen is the same color.
I can play games just fine, but each time I turn the DS off and see that big spot on the screen, I'm worried the screen will just stop working

By the way, the DS came with screen protectors on both screens...could this spot be the screen protector that somehow melted...or is it a problem with the LCD screen itself? Have any of you had a similar problem before?

I've had this a few times.  Usually I just leave it and it disappears.

i could be wrong but it looks like an air bubble or maybe even wetness under your screen protector.  I'd try taking off the protector and cleaning your screen.  I've always hated screen protectors anyways for this reason, couldn't ever seem to get all the bubbles out.

this happened to me one time. My advice buy a new screen protector or just try to apply the one you already have on there again. i'm pretty sure that would fix it

if you have it still on, take it off. i had a hori protecter and that spot kept coming back.

Phew, so you guys mean it's only moisture trapped under the screen protector? :)

UPDATE: I took off the screen protector and put it back on and the spot dissapeared! But now I have a couple of air bubbles under the screen protector (looks like a they form around particles of dust).
Is there any way to get rid of these air bubbles (except just removing he screen protector)?
Is a screen protector really useful fur the top LCD screen? I'd understand you don't want the touchscreen to get damaged, but the top screen doesn't seem to require protection :o

I only have a screen protector on the bottom screen, it does seem slightly pointless having one on the top screen.

JamaY

Is the top screen without a protector easy to clean up?

sinkhead

I usually don't have to clean mine, I take good care of it. But I just use a regular glasses cleaner to clean it when I need to.

I have a screen protector on both screens because I am paranoid.  But if you want to get the dust specks off, life up your protector with scotch tape, then put scotch tape on the other side just to take the dust off.  Usually when I remove it and put it back on, I'd clean it before I put it on.

Mailyfesux

i like to use permanent double sided tape because it removes most of the dust easily

darkunitzero

just leave it off, itll continue to come back over and over again. im guess its static clinging the two or something, itll eventually come back so just leave it off. if you use your ds normally you should have any problems with the screen getting messed up.

Well, after trying in vain to take off the dust on the screen protector, I just took it off :p
I'll just have to be careful not to put my greasy fingers on the screen ;)
Thanks for the help guys!
