Well, I'm afraid the DS is totally F***ed!

I have found the problem in that there was no cut out down the side of the Superpass. Others should check the latest batches. I have now sanded and whittled away a groove, but the games will only stay in with a wedge.

Time to do a return to Nintendo!

My spring seems to be busted. I think the lock mechanism is broken. I cannot get any cart other than the Superpass to stay in. I'm not clear on how it was fixed. Could someone please explain it thouroughly to me? I really need my DS to keep working as normal. I'm panicking right now. I need to know if my DS is reparable. If not, I don't think I can return it. The serial number is illegible, as the plastic guard on the back came off, and all that info is whited out. I would appreciate any help. I think I may have found this site a little too late. I've been using my Superpass (with Supercard CF) for about 2 weeks. I've removed it a few times. But I never had the problem until now, when I saw this post. I'm really freaking out. Please, help me.

You can send it to repair, say the DS's lock mechanism is broken, they might let repair it for free under warranty, otherwise you're going to shell out around $75 (or $95 CAD) for a new DS.

If you registered your DS on the Nintendo site, I guess thats a bonus.

I found a low cost solution. I took a post it note, cut it into a thin strip, and slid it into the side of the cart slot. It sticks out of the top a bit. I can put a cart in nice and tight. It clicks. I play my game. When I'm done, I turn it off, and givve a little tug on the tab. I'm willing to put up with it until I come up with a better solution. But I freaked over nothing really. But the point is, I fixed it. Thanks for the advice though. Now if anything irreparable comes up, i can get that replaced.

Just got the DS back from Nintendo under guarantee. They sent a new one back.

Although I have modified the superpass and put in the missing cut out down the side which probably caused the damage (this has now been melted to make it neater) I am reluctant to use it with the new DS. Given that the supercard is also one of the DS non-compatibles we're sticking with the SP.

I suggest that everyone getting a Superpass checks that it has a cut out down the side before putting it into the DS!

Himura

Well, I managed to fix my problem. And I checked that it was DS compatible. Now I can still enjoy all my purchased games. But if it wasn't for this site, I would have declared my DS doomed. Thanks guys.

I meant the paper thing. It's a bit annoying, but in my mind, better than  new DS.

i have this problem of DS original cards not able to stay-in but i shall try one of the method and if i m lucky enough i will be able to fix it

SigmaX6

im not to sure if its the same problem but ive had that happen once, and i put my pasme in there then pushed down then slowly pulled up a bit, until it felt like it caught on something then i just wigled up and down until i heard a click, it happens often to me, thats usually how i fix it, other wise my orig carts pop out.
TF WAS THAT?

khan

I still can not fix my lock mechanism problem in my SLOT-1. tried all the possible methods but to avail

I should i do :?:

Himura

Did you try my little paper method? It's crude, but it works.

yes i did but once the paper got pushed in more than i wanted and had to get it out but i think it will work but i was after a better solution.

I hear all sort of click noises but it does not work when i put in my metroid demo in the slot-1.

thankx anyway

Note to anyone reading this post - BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR DS.  Do NOT force the SuperPass in or out, or you will be out of luck - I found this out the hard way - luckily I fixed the problem - but many people are having difficulties.

BE CAREFUL!
