No matter what I do, I still can't save.  I've tried the L+R+start+A and notkhing works.  My kids are going nuts because they can't save.  Anyone that can help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Save for what, NDS, GBA, what? Also, what games have you tried?

If you updated your firmware .. you must repatch all your GBA ROMS ,,,

and there is no SAVING METHOD for NDS GAMES yet , jut the one using a original card to save !!!

Sorry for not specifing.  I'm trying to save for GBA.  My kids like to play Zelda the minnish cap, but they can't save their progress.  For that matter, they can't save any game.  My software I made sure I have the top two boxes and the last box checked.  I have auto save and save checked.  I am using Supercard software version V2.30

after saving inside the game you must press  L BUTTON + R BUTTON + A + SELECT  ... to keep game saved...  ifdint do it and turn off  you will lost your save

you can use real time save .. ( you can continue exacly where you saved ) pressing L+R+B+SELECT

i hope it help you!

thank you, I will try that.  Others had mentioned to do that, but they did not specify that it had to be done AFTER saving the file on the game.  I will post if it works.

unchingono

Ok, I tried that and I did both just to make sure.  After that I turned off the game and restarted it and it didn't save.  Not even my game file was saved.  What now?

1. can you confirm that on your CF/SD card there is a .sav file with the same name as your rom?  (i.e. GBAZELDAMC.sav, corresponding to GBAZELDAMC.gba)

if not, create one, by copying another save and renaming it, or just create a blank file..

2. If this is not your problem, confirm again that you are using patching software that MATCHES the firmware of your supercard.  (i.e. firmware 1.50 needs patching software v.2.40 or v.2.41)

3. When you press [L+R+A+select], do you get transferred to a black screen with white text asking if you want to save to CF/SD?  or nothing happens at all?  if nothing happens, the game isn't patched correctly.

excuse me if i state the obvious, i'm just trying to narrow down possible solutions.

you picked the right game to try! ZELDA MINISH CAP needs a SPECIAL patch that allows you to save! there is a special minish cap patcher here:

http://spicypixel.com/forum/forums/get-attachment.asp?attachmentid=35

open the program and drag&drop the unpatched & un-supercard-software'd rom into it - then patch it with SC soft (it should not use the save patcher because it does not need it anymore) - should do

if not... dont know ^^ i can not test it by myself because the us gameboymicro was delayed and i dont get mine till end of next week...

ive never needed a special patch to save in that game.. just used the Supercard patcher like all others roms

me too.  never used a special patch.  mine is the lozu-ind version of minish cap (actual rom name gbazeldamc or something)

That is the version that I am using too.

ok, just checked the card and it has the save file and also a sci file.  It seems that all of the games that I placed on my kids sd card won't save.  So Zelda isn't the only one.  Thanks for helping me, since I am new to this, stating the obvious is helpful for me.

unchingono, you said you are using supercard software v.2.30...  if so, your supercard's kernel (firmware) should be v.1.44 (i think that's the one).

if not, that may be the problem.  also ensure that your software matches your storage type (SD vs. CF)

I am using firmware 1.50 and patching software v.2.41
(for your reference)

One more thing:  try booting up your supercard while holding L+R buttons.  this will lead you to a memory check. it will do a couple of tests. press 'A' after each one. it should also tell you your firmware version.  hope this helps you
