Help Picking a Slot 1 Flashcart

I'm thinking about getting a Slot 1 Flashcart and I'm not sure which to get.

I have a flashed DS, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Are there any Slot 1's that support .gba games? I basically want the best working cart with a MicroSD slot instead of internal memory (and GBA support if possible). Any ideas? I also heard that SuperCard is coming out with a Slot 1 flashcart. Is this true?

No slot1's can play gba.  The point of slot one is to beable to use things like the web browser and a rumble pack.  Also to beable to play download play since slot2's cannot allow that.  You should look into getting a dslink since its decently priced and you already flashed your console.

Supercard would be fools not to do a slot-1 flashcart.

No slot-1 cards can run GBA files, as they lack the onboard RAM required to do so. However, I think the DS-Link CAN boot them if you also have a GBA-Link in the second slot. I'm positive the DS-Link can store the save files for the GBA-Link, at the very least. Sorry I can't be more sure but I only have the DS-Link myself, and the chinese instructions don't help much.

IMO, If you're keen on GBA titles, avoid anything with the Supercard name on it... the RAM they use is just too slow, making many games very jerky - especially these:

Final Fanstasy 4/5
All the Castlevanias
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Both Metroid games
Metal Slug
Rebelstar Tactical Command
... and many more

Internal-memory flashcarts supposedly yield the best performance, though I hear the M3 (which uses microSD) is pretty good.

As for slot-1 cards, DS-Xtreme is overpriced and has tiny memory (512 MegaBYTES), but supposedly offers 100% compatibility, and I believe it uses unpatched ROMS - most other devices require you to run each rom through special software first.

I have a DS-Link, which was much cheaper, uses Micro-SD and so far it has run every game I tried PERFECTLY (with the exception of the 2 Tony Hawk titles, which they are working on....)

If you want high compatibility and decent GBA performance, I'm told the M3 Perfect/M3 Perfect Lite are the best bet. If you want to use the cracked Opera Browser, you could use this in tandem with a DS-Link in the top slot.

In the Supercard's defence, it's much better for homebrew than the other devices - particularly the Compact Flash model which seems to be the most popular model to develop on.

Slot-2 devices can download play just fine as long as the receiving DS has been flashed. WFC also works perfectly on all games, though Animal Crossing and Advance Wars don't like WIFI mode when running from a Supercard.

DSLink can load GBA games through a GBALink... at least eDIY says it can, but I've been unable to find a place to buy a GBALink and test it out.

The idea is simple... the GBA ROMs are stored on the DSLink's TF card, and run through the GBALink's RAM. eDIY was selling DSLink/GBALink combo value packs in China ($89 for a DSLink, 256mb/32MB GBALink, and the eDIY version of a PassMe2 device), but no seller I could find that ships worldwide ever carried it. I wish RealHotStuff would stock GBALinks. :-)

That said... using an EZFlash or G6/M3 for GBA is easier for most of us.

DSLink is a great device for the money & is proven to be quite good (I love mine). Ninja's X9 and AceKard should be about the same price and don't need patching, but they're still of unknown quality. I pass on DS-X just because of the price-to-MB ratio, but a cheaper TF DS-X would be nice.

It's a great time to be Slot-1... lots choices and even more coming with SuperCard, EZFlash, EWin, and G6/M3 still to be annouced. SuperCard already has the spot in the patching software for their new device (ROM postition DS Card), but they're still not saying much about it. EWin should be patch free and cheap if the rumors in China are true. G6 should be RAM, and M3 TF, but who knows since GBalpha ain't talkin' either.

DSLink is killer for now if you can't wait, but who knows who'll come out with what next? :-)

Have fun.

Why? I doubt it will do anything more than the DS-Link, and he's already flashed his DS. The build quality and performance is also better than anything SC has already released.

I am completely happy with the SC cards i own, but, if I were to buy a slot 1 card, I may wait until xmas or just after to see what is coming out.

So you DO need to patch DSLink?

Either way, DSLink seems the best right now...

My goal is to own every Super Card device ever made (except maybe their "PassMe" thing and the original CF) so it would be wrong of me not to. :P I was thinking about asking for a Slot-1 for Christmas, I'll probably get both. (I cannot express my love for Super Cards in words....)

Thanks guys, I'm going with DSLink, so speak now, (or at least 'till a few days) or forever hold your peace.

I'm hoping the SC Slot 1 solution will be cheap and well featured like the DS Link but support more stuff like Download Play!

We'll see what happens...

I'm not sure at this point I can personally recommend one.  The DS-Link suffers the same incompatibility and "lag releases for new roms" (which means if a game isn't supported, plan on waiting 2+ weeks to get a fix for it) and is slower in boot and execution than the Supercard.

Now, the Ninjapass/Acekard, etc. look to be the winners - if they can actually keep their promises.  I have a Ninjapass on order, so I'll post everything I can when I get it.

NinjaPass and AceKard both get storage by use of MicroSD correct? I doubt I'll ever get a DS-X but NinjaPass looks pretty good.
