I have a 512 T-PRO SD Memory Card which I use with one of my supercards.
The other day when I went to delete files from it, it said its write protected.
So I looked to see if the Protection TAB had been moved to the lock Position and ooh no, THERES NO PROTECTION TAB, ITS GONE !!!!!

And I've never used that tab. I dont want the card protected anyway.

aarrggggghhhhh !!!!

I cant delete or erase it.

A search of google gave me nothing. There is a mention of this in wiki for SD CARD's but they say cover the tab with tape and that dont work.
I also tried putting a tiny piece of card board in there with tape and no go.

Surely there must be a hack to fix this.
Surely someone elase has had this problem before.
Im thinking of sacrificing this card by opening it up just to see how it works inside to maybe solve the problem  :)

If anyone knows how to fix this, can you please let me and everyone else know !!!!

Thanks

Hmm... try reformatting it (Beware, all your files will be gone).

Otherwise, use a toothpick or similar sharp, pointy object and stick it into the area where the tab once was. Try to slide that inner plastic thingy downwards. (I'm pretty sure you have no idea what I'm talking about)

Or... you can take it back to the shop and see what they can do about it. :)

How do you format it with write protection?
size=8]DS3, FM7, SCmSD1.80/2.60, WRT54GL with Tomato Firmware[/size]

Devil_Spawn

try to get something small in there to move the inner remains switch to off

EDIT: sorry, already posted

ZAFDeltaForce said that already Devil_Spawn.  no need to post that.

Thanks for your help, but  -

Cant format it because its write protected.
There is no slider thingy inside but we are talking about a 6 mm x 1 mm area so its hard to see
Tried putting in a small piece of plastic the same size at the tab used to be, but that didnt work.
I'm thinking there must be a pressure point at one end that the protection tab slides over to unprotect the card
because by default its protected (with no tab)

Will keep u informed

Thanks

YAY !!!  I fixed it

I got a tiny piece of tin foil rolled up to the thickness of a pin and about 2 or 3 mm long
and with a pin poked it into the the unlock area at the top of end of the card.
Then with the pin I pushed it down towards the bottom part of the card.

IT WORKS :)

The pessure point or contact point must be at the bottom side of the card. (which obviously where all the flash circuitry is)
I'm not sure whether its pressure or the foil making a circuit contact that did the trick.

If i ever have a dead card i will open it to see for sure (Curiosity is killing me :))

Its now permenately writable :)

Thanks and Cheers from OZ

It really won't be all that.  RAM and connectors, that'll be it.  Not that I've ever looked.

**Update**

Still having trouble.

While my card reader and writer lets me write to the SD Card and delete.
The Super card still thinks the write protection tab is locked on.

When my NDS starts it says " Write protection Lock", Please turn off GBA

Now I'm confused :?

** Update **

The Silver Foil Solution wasnt a very good one.
It loses contact sometimes and I have to poke it with a pin to get it working again.

I will investigate further and keep u updated
