you can buy a top screen replacement. Buy it from Nintendo spare parts.

Also alot on ebay and ebay uk. also search on google for nds replacement screens, it is what I looked up

And it looks to be $75us from nintendo.

Under the faq/tutorial section is this how to dismantle a Nintendo ds (56k beware BIG picture). It has plenty of info on how to open your ds.

its really easy, i replaced my touch screen, and a friends top screen, however do advise you to do it as quckly as possible in the most dust free environment u can managed, just dont take whaatever (if anything) covering the top screen off until its about to go in.

do not touch the front of it if you can, fingerprints= also annoying

Seems like the perfect opportunity to get rid of your phat DS (give it to your brother who broke it) and get yourself a Lite!

There's nothing wrong with the DSphat.

1. The brightness is okey unless it's REALLY sunny.

2. The microphone isn't THAT annoying

3. The DSphat isn't THAT big and clunky.

4. The DSlite breaks more easily than the DSphat.

5. The DSphat is fully functional. You can play games just fine.




of coarse #'s 2 and 3 are opinions. My point is, some people are buying Dslites when they own a DSphat already. I see no reason for this, it just doesn't have THAT many advantages. And, if your like me and you're a butter-fingers, the DSphat is the way to go.

Yes, the DS phat is a very capable device. The only problem is Nintendo doesn't make DS phat anymore.  I can't even find DS phat accessories in local stores.

People have reported there DSlite broke when dropped, not to mention cracked for no reason.

My daughter was playing on my ds phat last week and went to the bathroom to clean her teeth. She dropped it in the bath (which was full of water) complete with supercard sd and 1gb sd card. I didnt find out til 5 hours later when i heard a clicking sound and i picked up the ds and water ran out of it. Anyway, i put it on the radiator, whacked the thermostat up and dried it out overnight, the only problem i had in the morning was a flat battery I wouldnt like to try it with my psp though :wink: Me and my kids have a ds each, 4 of us and i've replaced a cracked case and 3 screens lol, next time one breaks its on ebay for spares and im getting a lite.

By the way DSphat aint bad. It suits my needs fine- of course if I am convinced that DSlites are better in enough ways for me to want to switch...
Could someone explain the differences (all of them) between the two? I'm a bit of a noob on that topic.
