hey guys.. anyone here run mac OSX on their x86 PC?

I'm experimenting to see if I can get it to run smoothly on my Athlon 64 x2 4400.  Asus m2n-sli motherboard.  other people have done it..

if not, i'm gonna pick up a lame dell intel machine and use that for osx.  (legitimate license of course)

I installed OSX x86 on my IBM laptop. Works great, but it doesn't detect the wireless network card... so I don't have internet... unless I use a network cable. ;)

Can't say for AMD's, but my P4 2.8ghz, 768MB RAM, 128mb 9800 Pro works extremely well with OSX86.

what patches, if any, did you have to install?

digicide

It's a little trickier for AMD's.  I was able to use a Norton Ghost image made on an intel and then apply the appropriate patches to get a working AMD setup.  I documented it all quite nicely on the OSX86 forums, if you search for posts by digicide.

Can you run Imovie & Idvd ? I tried osx86 a long while ago but again it didn't like my Wireless card or Geforce4MX (which I've now changed to a radeon 9600 pro :-) )

I'm tempted to try again, as the radeon should be supported and I think that's why Imovie and Idvd wouldn't work, I'd love to run OSX for iMovie, Idvd and final cut pro :-)

I think I made a ghost image of it when I had it working so shouldn't be too hard to dig out and try again!

Have they patched any new versions ?

i'm using 10.4.8 for SSE 3 cpu's, patched for AMD.

supposedly titan makes Quartz Extreme (QE) and CI work, but it didnt work for my dual geforce 7600GTs.  (i removed the SLI link, since there is surely no support for that)..

I'm running on plain old VESA graphics 1024x768 :(

my issue is that I can't run final cut pro and dvd studio pro without the proper QE/CI support (studio 5.1)

I have the legit software, because that's what I do for work, but I don't have a mac at home.. I wanted to be able to do projects at home (freelance).   figure i may pick up a core2duo system that closely resembles the mac core2duo's, to use as a hackintosh, and keep my athlon64 x2 4400+ for gaming as per usual.

Macs use USB right?  Why don't you get a USB wireless nic?  They're like $20 shipped.  Canadian.  I'll help you find one cheap if you want.

got my QE/CI graphics to work.. had to remove my second geforce card.. anyway, ordering a core2duo setup for the OSX stuff.. (im an AMD guy, but i want to build a really osx86 compatible rig)

and yes, USB stuff is the way to go.. my sound doesn't work very well (most don't with osx86) but i got a cheap USB sound card (10 bucks on ebay) and it works fine. :)

Well CI and QE is working on my Radeon 9600 pro, so I guess I may be able to get ilife to work now, never got my old nvidia working properly.

Will update to 10.4.8
