since this hasn't been posted yet gbatemp did a review on the Acekard seems pretty average because hombrew compatibility is terrible.

Well, now I don't want one...

Saw that review too. Seems mediocre to me. Looks like it is the DS-Link for me.

Plays every game though.. homebrew will get sorted sooner or later for hoimebrew that doesn't need gba ram, with the ez4 it's taken a while, but thats getting there now.

As for download and play, it comes equal second with every other cart apart from the ds-x, and who knows maybe they will fix it, as goes for the speed issue with the vania vid.

I think it deserved a higher score, considering price and the mammoth storage ability on a slot-1 device and the abilty to play every single rom out there.
Yes I'm mad

yeah.. the gbatemp review sounds overly harsh.  I'm not totally convinced about the acekard, but it sounds like the reviewer is being harsh compared to the treatment of other carts on gbatemp reviews..

considering the card's game and passme compatilbity i can't believe they took off any points at all. and they didn't answer two big questions, rumble and DS Browser. in one of the pictures they show the DS browser in the list but then they don't even bring it up.

sonicwind

I think it should have gotten higher aswell besides the very low hombrew compatibility and the lag in some games right out of the box you couldn't ask for anything better except not using that system on your microsd.

Seems to be a lot of slowdown on the ackard. Does the DS-Link have that problem too?

yeah. its pretty much the same deal but you have to have a flashed ds.

sonicwind

not really..... ds link has come some ways since it started out.  The only real con now is having to flash but thats pretty much it and not supporting some homebrew and tony hawk.

sneef

with a kingmax microsd formatted to 64k clusters, i don't see much slowdown on dslink.. and i'm pretty picky

In few months it's just like every solution there is: a pretty good solution. The issues can be fixed.

Did you read about the supposed battery tests... supposedly they got 8 hours on a ds phat on metroid prime at full volume with the ds-x. They are just plain lying, unless some ds-phats in the last manufacturer run were fitted with 1600mah batteries, but seeing as they still use the phat/gba style charger I cannot see it.

although it isn't in the reviews, the acekard supports rumble packs and the DS Browser (E) triforce hack that works with a SCSD... I'm not sure if that includes microSD or miniSD.
