what are your top 10 reasons for buying the wii? here are mine (in no particular order)

10. Virtual Console - all your favorite classics on 1 system? who wouldn't want it
9. Controller - really gets you into the game
8. Exercise - sounds stupid but makes my mom happy as she says i always play too many games at least this way i can do both
7. Free Online - everyone likes things for free, and Nintendo knows this
6. WiiConnect24 - love the idea of downloadable content and ds demos downloaded straight to your system
5. Wii - DS Connectivity - cool idea how the ds can be a controller for games like Pokemon and you can transfer items/characters from a ds version to a wii version of the game
4. The Price - $280 (CDN) is not bad at all and very affordable by many gamers compared to the $600 price tag of ps3 (not that bad a price for what is packaged with it)
3.Sleek Design - i love the design of the wii and know it will last because it was made by Nintendo
2.Game Line-up - i have just 3 titles to mention Zelda, Super Smash Brawl, and Super Mario Galaxy 'nuff said
1. Extra features for the controller- even theyre little things like built in speaker and rumble, it makes you feel that much more "in" the game

well, my #2 was "nintendo heritage", and part of that would be colourful, attractive graphics..  (to me), but I wouldn't say I bought it for it's graphics processing power.. hehe.

Unfortunately, between the xbox 360 and the Wii, I will go with the 360. I would like to buy the wii for my daughter but that is just a whole bunch more money than I want to spend on something that she does too much anyways.

1. Price
2. Promise (internet and such, mooted features that make it what everybody really uses a PC for for 200 quid in your living room).
3. Backwards compatibility (I've never owned a Nintendo home console, and I admire a lot of gamecube games).
4. The legacy of the DS (the general standard has been the highest of any console I've bought, I'm hoping developers will get a kick up the arse in much the same way).
5. Hopefully playing games with everybody I enjoy spending time with.
6. Really good launch titles!
7. It's plenty small (I'm going to be a student fairly soon, no space).
8. The Mii's (Gamercards are often impenetrable and is a very exclusive system).
9. General xbox apathy (my current console)
10. No ps2 price drop (plenty of cheap games there, katamari, Ico and Okami would have done me for a long while).

Graphics certainly aren't a concern - the xbox was the technological height of the last-gen, I doubt this offers more than that.  Having said that though, it's a good piece of technology, excellent engineering and use of old tech like gyroscopes, accelerometers, bluetooth and I.R.
