squall, you are wrong.  Elebits is out in the US, and has been since Dec 12th.  I know this for a fact because the case with the game inside it is sitting about 6 feet away from me on a stack of boxes.

So yes, Elebits is the first online game for Wii.

You can trade levels online, not actually play against OTHER PEOPLE online.

That being said, Elebits kicks major ass.

ya i was refering more to an online vs/co-op game as opposed to trading items/levels

I've heard that Pokemon Batttle Revolution would be the first online game (Not just WiiConnect24).  It might not be the same anymore, so I'll check it out.

edit//  Most sites I looked at said that Pokemon was going to be the first game to use wifi for the Wii.

in japan it is the first online game, but will it come out before smash bros for us?

gamesphere

Supposley Best buy has smash bros brawl for a release date of march 30th 07

I'd wait for nintendo's date......

I'm not sure which one will come out in the U.S.  I'm guessing Pokemon, but I would never be sure since the release dates aren't set in stone yet.

I doubt pokemon will be the first US game to use it. It relies heavily on Diamond and Pearl which won't be released till mid 2007 I believe (or was it spring?)

I think we'll see quite a few games in 2007 though that will take advantage of it. The hard part is setting up the infrastructure, once nintendo has that all figured out it should be relatively easy for programmers to get everything else setup.

(edit) Just checked, the US release dates for Diamond and Pearl are April 22nd. I'd be highly highly surprised if Battle Revolution came out before they did. That leaves at least a 4 month window between now and then for another game to come out that has full wifi support. Whether one does or not, who knows.

I would like to see Super Smash Bros. Brawl come out very soon.  It's one of the main reasons I bought the Wii.

Ah, well it's good that Diamond/Pearl have a confirmed launch date.  For a while they weren't even confirmed for an American release date at all, yet I heard March.

I wouldn't say that it 'relies heavily' on Diamond/Pearl, though.  But yes, they do connect with each other in some way.

Yes, the game relies heavily on Diamond and Pearl. Other wise you have to use a "rental pass" and are very limited in the pokemon you can choose. From what I've read, there isn't even a tradional story type mode in the game. It's more about battling and unlocking items for pearl/diamond.
