M3 battery?

Motta, back on topic, if the M3's batteries recharge themselves, could you explain what was said on the review of the M3 at emuparadise?

I wasn't aware of that feature on the M3, but then again it's something I would avoid. While I appreciate your desire to use soft-resets (I'm sure everyone would like to be able to use them), you must understand they are something of a mixed blessing. Soft-resetting a DS does not always flush the RAM properly - meaning the next software you boot can glitch out. It's actually possible to see artwork from one game superimposed onto another when it happens. It can also cause confusion with save files over-writing each other, or writing onto the wrong game. Using the power switch suddenly looks a lot more appealing.

Additionally, the soft-reset code usually needs to interrupt the software routines every 30 frames, which can cause slowdown and crashing in some cases.

Personally I would ignore anything you read in an emuparadise review, I've yet to hear of an M3 battery needing to be replaced. As nobody has mentioned it in this thread, it's fairly safe to assume they're reliable. My SC-MiniSD has a battery that's never shown any sign of giving up.

Hi

Thank you for answering my intial question mota, but now what you've told me about soft-resets has me worried.

I've never had a problem with soft-resets using my supercard. Are soft resets more of a prolem on the M3?

And though slightly offtopic, will the supercard rumble have problems with soft-resets, or does the supercard team usually do a good job?

As far as I'm aware it happens on most flashcarts with a soft-reset function. I can't be any more specific than that. Try soft-resetting phoneix wright, then loading mario kart - that usually causes weird stuff to happen.

The supercard rumble is identical to the regular supercards, but lacks the RAM. It behaves just the same, but cannot be used for GBA games and is less compatible with homebrew (as some homebrewers like to use that ram).

Hi

Wait one minute...

WHY DIDN'T I SEE THIS SOONER!!!

http://www.m3adapter.com/faq.htm

Yes... that's the official M3 site. And I quote...

"What is the battery life of M3 ?

In general the battery life of M3 is over 2 years .

In addition we have released our" M3 Game Manager V3.11  "
The game save data will be automatically stored into the corresponding save
file after the software reset process. Practically, the game save data can
be safety kept even without battery connected. Therefore you don’t have to worry about that .
NDS software reset function (5-key reset : L + R + A + B + X)"

Not only that, but what they say on their homepage(http://www.m3adapter.com/main.htm) about the "SupXX CaXd" just isn't fair. And I quote...

"About the similar product

There is the similar product on the market, and its surface functions are similar to our M3 adapter. However, it is completely different from our products, and it has many defects. Many people feel regret that had bought such product .

Some people complained about that "I can't believe the similar product guys said that it's acceptable to have all of those slowdown /crashing problems."

Therefore, we need clarify the fact that our product is  M3 adapter (GBA Movie Player 3rd generation ) .It is not the SupXX CaXd ."

C'mon people. that just isn't right! They can't just insult the supercard like that. (In case you haven't figured it out, SupXX CaXd = supercard)

M3 people, YOU HAVE JUST OFFICIALLY LOST MY BUSSINESS!!! NOT ONLY DID I FIND OUT MY ANSWER TO MY QUESTION ABOUT THE M3 BATTERY, IF FOUND OUT YOU WERE BIG FAT LIERS TO! GOOD RIDDANCE!
