Hello. I just received my supercard package today and I am clueless on what to do. I currently have 98 SE as my OS. To start with, I have no idea on what should be installed from the software that came with the card reader/writer. I know I need a driver, but which one?  The software shows 15 files, so which one needs to be installed?

Also, I read where you need to convert the gba games and format the card reader to fat (or something like that). I am clueless on what to do. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

On a side not, I am doing this for my son. I thought it would be a breeze, but i guess not. Thanks

1.  Format your Compact Flash card with FAT and install this.

2.  Copy this to your C:/Program Files/Supercard directory.  The folder might also be called SC.  It will overwrite your old rominfo.dat file with the updated one.

3.  Extract and copy this to your Compact Flash card.

4.  Put your Compact Flash card into your Supercard and into your GBA/DS.

5.  Check the software revision that the Supercard menu gives you and if yours is older than 1.41, choose the upgrade option.

6.  Once the upgrade is complete, turn off your GBA and put your Compact Flash card back into your CF reader.  DELETE THE UPGRADE FILE FROM YOUR COMPACT FLASH CARD.  This is very important.  Otherwise you will get the upgrade message everytime you boot your Supercard.

7.  Now, start the Supercard Windows program.  Go to the options tab and check the "saver patch", "enable restart", and "enable real time save" options.

8.  Go to the "game list" tab and add some ROMs to the program and hit the "out" button.  This will patch the ROMs and will put them into the directory that's listed as the "out path" in the options tab.  Copy ALL of the files in this folder to your Compact Flash card.

9.  Put the Compact Flash card into your Supercard and boot your GBA/DS.

10.  Enjoy.

Hello Ntolerance. Thanks for the reply. I am getting closer, but I ran into another obstacle. When I add a rom in  the supercard software a box comes up twice saying "open file error" and the patch box says fail. I then tried to hit the out box to see what would happen and "open file error" comes up again and nothing is in the out directory.

I am sure the roms are not corrupted as I play them in vba, as well as, my flash cards.

I am not sure on where to go from here. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks again.

Make sure that there aren't any files other than the .gba file in your zipped ROMs.

also make sure that your compactflash card is formatted to FAT and not FAT32.  To format your CF card, put it in your CF reader and open up windows explorer, you'll see a new drive listed, right click on it and choose format and make sure that it's set to FAT :D

Thanks again for taking time out to help. Do the files need to be zipped to be converted? Because the regular rom.gba brings up the the "open file error" and the patch fail, but when I tried a zipped rom it worked flawlessly. I hope not, cuz all of my roms ,except a few, are unzipped. Is their a way around this? Thanks again.

superdad,

The "open file error" happends on some of the zipped games. Just unzip the file and then point the Supercard patching software to the .gba file that was unzipped. Should work then.

Hello all. Thanks again for the help. This card is amazing. The only problem I am having is the converting. All of my normal roms (already unzipped) have the file error when I try to convert them. This is driving me crazy. It makes no sense. I just have to re-download the games I want to play. Oh well.

I do have question about movie conversion. I converted a show at normal quality. The video and sound are fine, but they are out of sync. Is this common? Just wondering.

Thanks.

Hi guys, thanks for this thread, it's exactly what I've been looking for.

The only question I have is:

Is it possible to keep a game's .gba, .sav, etc file(s) in a folder for each different game, on the Flash Card, so that it all kept neat and tidy?

Yes, folders are supported.

Not sure why unzipped files would give you an error, there is a program out that will zip all of your roms for you into seperate zips called Zipmany, you can also use GBARenamer. If you use a rom renamer program it will also verify that the CRCs are good for the rom. Good Luck
