If passkey works so well and is the same size as a DS cart

what reason could there be for using flashme?

Also, doesnt the DS-Xtreme work without having to flash your DS?
Im pretty sure a DS has to be flashed to run a DSLink, but other than that I cant think of any other reason

Well there are 3 reasons to use flashme instead of the passkey.

1.  The passkey takes up power, so if you flashme your DS, you get about an extra 10-30 minutes of gameplay.
2.  Flashme has a safety feature.  There are brickers for the DS, if you run them, it will erase the firmware on your DS.  Flashme protects against that, whereas if you use the passkey, its all over for your DS.
3.  It costs money to buy a passkey.  If you flashme your DS, you can sell your passkey back out.

but if you are using a dslink or ds-xtreme, all 3 of your reasons are a moot point, no?
except for maybe reason 2

If you use DS Link, YOU HAVE TO HAVE FLASHME.  But that is the only slot 1 card to need flashme.

Yes DSXtreme means you don't have to worry about anything else.  Flashme is probably going to be useless soon because of the built in passmes, but I like to have it just for safety.

built in passme? as in DS-Xtreme?
Also I was just curious because I was reading about how to get the OperaDS rom working. And most of the posts I read involved having your DS flashed and running a slot 1 card. So there were issues with how you boot up to get the rom working.

DS Xtreme and almost all the other slot 1's have built in passme.

I'm not sure about the opera rom, I just know that you need 1 slot 1 card and 1 slot 2 card to run it.
