I havent touched partners in time but Superstar Saga actually does rank very high as one of the greatest turn based rpgs ever, ever since then, it seems absolutely baroque and several steps backwards to play a game that doesn't have its battle system's features.

Can anybody recommend any recent good looking rpgs for the pc.  I'm looking to get something to do over winterbreak

I love action RPGs. The best of them seem to get both the best out of adventure games and typical Role Playing: extensive story and gameplay, with intensive character development. I love to go on further in the game and actually see that my character's becoming better and better. Also, you get the thrill of collecting rare items, planning your stats and skills allocation, etc. Come on! Don't you deny that games like Diablo, Dungeon Siege, etc. are the best in Action RPGs.

On the other hand... I'm starting to dislike turn based RPGs, mostly FF. I've been playing FFIII DS, and seriously, it's annoying as hell. I never liked a lot FF (I played FF V and VI a lot, though, and I loved them), more when FFVII was released and became the most overrated game ever, but now I completely dispise the series.
