I am selling my DS lite on ebay right now, but have plenty of time to revise my description.

I have not mentioned yet if my DS is flashed, but I am considering it.  Some scdev members gave me opinions already, but I would like to garner a general consensus.

The pro side is that the user wouldn't have to buy a superpass or expensive slot 1 device with passme built in.  They also wouldn't have to fear the flashme.

Do you think this will hurt me?  I think if I were an average DS user I wouldn't want to know that a DS I am buying is modded.  I would probably fear some breakdown.

BTW, I flashed my lite with stealth flashme, so nobody could ever tell anything.

well thats a tough call, I suppose though that I might throw it in there but try to make it sound like an added feature and not some big scary thing, that way people who know what it means will bid more and people who are ignorant of it wont care.

Just put 'FlashMe Included' in the description. People who know what it is will understand, and people who don't will probably just think it's some kind of light!

What I decided was not to mention it in the dslite listing.

However, in my superpass 2 & supercard mini SD description, I said that I am also selling a flashed ds lite.

Thus, only those that know about the supercard will know that I am selling a flashed ds lite.

Smart eh?

i've mentioned it in two of my auctions. i didn't make it the sole selling point, but they did reach market value.

i think the key things you should mention are that it doesn't change how works dramatically, i.e. you can still do all the things with a stock DS. dropping in the keyword "upgrade" always helps.

Ummm, YES YOU SHOULD MENTION IT.  It is stupid not to mention it.  Last time I sold my DS Phat on eBay (flashme'd) it went for about the same as a Lite.  That was when the Lite just launched.  I think it is worthwhile to mention that you have a "upgraded" system.

player2

you should mention it because it affects the functionality
of the device. I'm not clear on all the details but from
what i understand the flashed ds doesn't do wireless/download
play the same.

zektor

You should mention it if you want ebay to cancel your auction and place a strike against your account!

O yea forgot about that, I did it before they had that whole policy.  :)

can someone link me ebay's policy on this? both my auctions ran for over 5 days and ended successfully.

perhaps it's a continental issue?

Any modified videogame device is prohibited (modified to circumvent security)....be it software or hardware modified. You can get away with it, providing ebay staff do not catch it in time...but it really is not worth the risk.

For more info, just check their security center for prohibited and banned items.

BTW, I speak out of experience here...not heresay. I have had a flashed DS (that I advertised as "flashed") removed under their rules and regulations guideline.

yeah, looks like you're right. but i'd imagine you'd have to constantly ignore the rules to get suspended, and you may get away with careful wording. i.e. they may recognise "flashed" but not "flashme".

Well, if they decide to shut your auction down, you can always argue that the DS is a region-free device (there's no difference between and import and a local game) and that a flashed firmware isn't either a boot up disk (which would be a SuperKey, I guess) or a modchip (it's not even a physical device). They shouldn't do anything against you, though.

Just say upgraded.  I don't think eBay will remove it as long as you don't mention ROMS or FLASHME or MODDED
