Everyone read this

It is kind of interesting...  So basically almost all carts are the same except their software?  Is that why the R4 is different from all the other carts?

The EZ Flash V and Supercard DS look really similar, but why is the EZ Flash V superior when it comes to NDS support, is their "software" better?

I don't agree.  Just because several of them use Actel chips means nothing.  Actel chips are very common, and the fact that the PCB's are layed out differently speaks volumes.

I read the article (After having to register for the site. sheesh) and it doesn't have any more information than we already know.

what am I supposed to see?  I already registered for the site and read the article like I already said.

I totally disagree 100% regarding the x9=scds.

I agree. After looking at the pictures it appears that each and every slot 1 card is designed with a different PCB layout. Just because many of them use Actel chips doesn't mean they are made by the same manufacturer.  Many devices use ARM processors but that doesn't mean they are manufactured by the same company. I think the pictures prove that slot 1 cards are NOT all the same. I think that myth has been busted.

Yea now that I look at it, I think you're right sneef.  They all have different chips asides from the Actel chips.  What is interesting is the PCB of the R4DS, it looks strangely simple.

Well, if you check the article now I updated the DS-X image to show the actel chip being used and it looks like its a superior chip to the others. Check out the thread.

What do you mean superior?

The DSX I think should use a really different PCB as they have to read and write info.  All the other ones use microsds, except the ncard, which uses something else to transfer data.

I hate to dissent but I think all the Slot 1 cards are using the older Pro Asic3 chips. I can't read the chip name on the M3/R4 but it looks like a more advanced/later chip (is it an IGLOO or something else).
