go to 'My Network Places'
click on 'View Network Connections'
right click on the wireless adaptor, click properties
double click on 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'
click both the radio buttons that say 'Use the following IP address'

depending on ure router settings you will have to enter different numbers here:

on your computer that is already on the network:
disconnect wifi dongle
run->type 'cmd'
type 'ipconfig' in the command window

in the laptop IP address, input the IP address that is in the computer, except for that last number, change that to anything between 10 - 250.

eg. if ip on computer is '192.168.1.2' input '192.168.1.50' (example, may be different)

the other numbers, copy from the computer, use the same number for the default DNS as the gateway. ignore the secondary DNS
