Well, I own a 20 GB Apple iPod atm and I'm expecting to get a Nintendo DS Lite with M3 DS Simply prolly next week. I just want some peace of mind right now, and i'm wondering if i put songs onto my NDS Lite, does it have the same quality as listening to em on my iPod? If it does, I'm considering selling the iPod. I just wanna know if the NDS Lite can play quality music on it.

no sorry man, the NDS will certainly NOT play as good as an MP3 player.
First of all, it won't get the sound quality (not that the iPod is that great but still). And second of all, the volume won't get close to what you will get on an iPod or better MP3 player.

But the sound is still fine, and it plays...so if that means selling the 20 GB iPod for like $200 or something, then he just broke even with his DS/M3 purchase.  Personally, i bought the DS Lite (instead of the PSP) with the intentions of getting the SC SD and the R4.  With both of those, i will be able to listen to music and use the Opera browser...

I think I'm going to sell the iPod anyway because I only use it at school, and at max maybe.... 2 hrs. a day. No point in me keeping it because I hardly use it and besides... I can come somewhat close to breaking even with my NDS Lite/M3 Simply purchase.

i dont know, the quality is pretty good if you say, use the ipods headphones, however from the speakers or on cheaper headphones the sound quality is not so good

Young people have so much time to blow and don't appreciate a bit of it. Two hours a day to devote to listening to music is quite a lot. Youre getting more use out of that ipod than I could ever dream of ... I almost got a new Nano at Christmas, but held back because I know I'd never have the time to use it ... I'd be lucky to get to listen to music with headphones on 2hrs a week. (full time job, married, three kids)

but the quality through a play yan is good, maybe a touch better than using moonshell.  but as stated above, use decent  headphones

Sounds as good as my old 4th Gen iPod did. Even with some high quality headphones, it sounds VERY nice. I'm not an audiophile, but I am very picky about my music. As for output-- with standard bullshit headphones, yes, the DS is quite quiet-- at least my DS Lite is. However with some good headphones that have higher sensitivity like my JVC headphones ($5 but quite nice), or my friend's Sennheisers, they can be very loud. With the Sennheisers, 100% volume in Moonshell was enough to drown out the sound of my friend's voice 2 feet away. At 200% it was near-painfully loud. At 400% it was intolerably loud.

Can't really hear the difference.. But I would recommend keeping the iPod if you're really into music. Those things are quality products and I just have to say, it's better to rely on commercially built hardware + software for music, than homebrew on hardware that was built for games.
If you, like me, can't hear the difference and want the NDS for games, then go for it.
Oh, by the way, some people complain about the speakers not being loud enough.. I think they should buy headphones.    Or external speakers..

Yes. It depends on the output speakers / headphones you are using.
DS Lite Onyx Black
Supercard Lite
Nintendo Wii (US)
PSP (Metal Gear PO Limited Edition)

NDS speakers... no... my headphones on the other hand actually sound pretty decent. And you can get it pretty loud... only thing is that if you make it too loud the quality goes down (it has adjustable audio).

My wife purchased this little $5 speaker for her Ipod at Five BeLow tonight. Surprisingly enough, the thing sounds loud and clear! Maybe I'll try it on the Lite. Heck, if it sounds decent I may throw a fiver out as well :)

Wha... I spent like 20 bucks on an MP3 player speaker and it sucked...

Hi

Use Ipod headphones. The sound quality will increase A LOT.
