 I just found out that you can play all the old spectrum games on the GBA! I have spent the last few hours playing oldskool classic Chuckie Egg and it is brilliant. You can use FOON or ZXADVANCE and then any old speccy rom.

Sorry if this has been discussed already but I am new round these parts and I tried a search first. Is there any1 else on here from the golden days of gaming? 8)

Good for you

WOW!!! The Dspec thingy sounds like daddy of speccy gaming! I like the idea of a stick on rubber-keyed speccy on the touch screen :D Genius!

Look - I noticed you have a few posts on that link declaring your love for the speccy! Good man! Could you recommend any other speccy games that convert well to the GBA? I would love to play Skool Daze but I don't think there are enough buttons  :(

look

pssst! is good

Yeah I've been planning on emulating Head Over Heals.

What is the best Speccy Emulator for the DS?

I'd also love an emulator for the mighty C64, is there such a thing and if not, why not!!!!

I never owned a Speccy, I was a Commodore man.
Does any one read the Retro Gamer magazine?

I have not heard about a C64 emu but as a speccy die-hard I could never lower myself to playing one!   I still have a long running argument (from about 1987) with my friends over the SPECCY vs. C64!

I didn't know anything about a speccy DS emulator until yesterday! It looks like the Dspec will be the best but I think it is still only a Beta copy. Judging by the posts on another forum though it will be fully operational very soon! There is even talk of a rubber keyed speccy to stick on the touch-screen!  8)

Hopefully by the time I get my flashme/passme gizmos it should be ready. Why is it so complicated compared to the gba rom?  :?

I have been a subscriber of the Retro Gamer magazine since issue 1 but when issue 19 didn't appear I was a bit worried. My friend told me that they have went bust but I have had no word from them and their webpage is still taking subscriptions (no updates since July and the forum is closed).  :(

LOL, why cant we all just get along......

I was expecting that response!
But let me tell you that the Amiga 500 was better than Atari ST!!!!!

Keep the candle burning, some holy wars should never end ;)

Fear the mighty SID chip!

I'll be checking out the Speccy Emulator, what games would you recommend?

Have you ever seen the joke magazine ad for the C64 to Speccy converter?

I'll see if I can find it, you need to see it!

:D LOL K! You are right about the speccy vs. C64 being a holy war!!! If you can find the joke ad for the converter please forward it to me.

Although I was a hardcore speccy dude I had to dabble with the dark side and upgrade to the Amiga. Some fond memories of classics such as Sensi Soccer, Kick Off 2, Speedball 2, Flashback, Supercars 2, Pinball Fantasies, Xenon 2, Syndicate, Lotus Esprit and the fandabiedosie Monkey Island games.

8) The cool news is the you can now play the Monkey Island games on the DS. Check out this link... http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/

I haven't got the passme/flashme stuff yet so I haven't tried it but it is defo at the top of my list! Has any1 tried this yet? Does this mean that the DS could handle any other Amiga games?!?!

As for the speccy recommendations, this week I have mostly been playing... Chuckie Egg, Bruce Lee, The Fall Guy, Rainbow Islands, Manic Miner, BombJack and Horace goes Skiiing. To be honest I haven't played any GBA games since I found out about the speccy emulator!

look

Sorry but I have to correct you here.

:D LOOK - I like the cut of your jib!!!

Kick Off 2 was the best! Sensible Soccer was for puffs. The amount of times I have to educate fools who swear by Sensi. There were only 5 different ways to score in Sensi and the ball stuck to you like glue?!?! I still have my Golden Goals saved from Kick Off 2 and often take a trip down memory lane watching them (i wait for my wee brother to visit and show him the ones scored against him!)  :D

8) GOAL! (the follow up to Kick Off 2) was also a bumper!

I can't agree with you on the Spoilt child bit though. I had to get a paper round to finance the hefty 400 quid price tag!

look

Those paper rounds must pay well up in Scotland!

Dino Dinis soccer was good on the megadrive and is now playable online

You'll find out how here

sadly we wont be seeing KO2 on the DS so fingers crossed pro evo comes out. I'm already bored with Fifa :(

lord_kthulu

Hey Look, nuff cracks about spoiled Kids!!! ;)

My first computer was a MicroBee, has anyone heard of them???
It was a strange beast of a machine.

My lawn mower rounds helped me purchase my C64 and then my Amiga 500+

Kick Off 2 was good but I was more of a fan of Goal!

Fud, how can you play Rainbow Islands on a Speccy?
Dont rainbows have 7 colours?????? ;-P

I will be checking out ScummVM very soon, I'm also on the lookout for a Z-Machine Interpreter if anyone know were I can find one.

I loved Speedball 2, what a game.
And I spent way to many hours playing Pinball Dreams / Fantasies / Illusions.

Did you know that you can also play "Lure of the Temptress", "Beneath a Steel Sky", and "Simon the Sorceror" on ScummVM?

What do you think of Jetset Willy on the Speccy?

Lmao Kthulu - good 1! I suppose MonoChrome Islands hasn't got the same ring to it! I admit that the C64 had a few more colours (cough) but I always thought there was something not quite right with the C64's gravity, for some reason the sprites looked like they had been squashed!

As for my paper round, it only lasted about 6 weeks until I discovered what you could do with some blank disks and X-COPY II  8)

Ok, so apart from taking a trip down memory lane to play speccy and amiga stuff, is there any thing else worth checking out on the DS? I have high hopes for Mario Kart but wtf is all the fuss about these Nintendog thingys?!?!
