I have a ds fire link 8gb and all i can tell you its amazing 3d touch menu all the games ive tried work there is dldi support well you can use the neo flash mk5 dldi and it will patch and work fine. Other homebrew such as moonshel work fine. I havent the time at the moment for a review but for the price I would highly recomend this device. Its not the same as a ds linker as was posted in the last post its a slot 1 device and well worth the 40 pounds shipped i paid.
ick of ROMS ?

ds linker is a slot 1 device too.  it only uses a special slot-2 cart with a usb port to connect to the pc, to write to the slot-1 cart.

it also had a "3d menu" like what you described.

actually, i just went to the ds firelink website, and it is definitely the same product as ds linker which sinkhead linked to above.

My bad but i still say its a deff good investment.

i agree.  i didnt get one cos of bad reviews, but when i re-read the reviews I realised that i dont really care how long it takes to write to it.  I would use it as a semi-permanent cart for the games I always play.  I would still use ezv and m3 simply to quickly test games. '

ordering a express card 16Gb from winsunx. hehe

cool, haha, man -.- i wish i had that many flash carts... atm i have none...

wonder if flash memory on the cart is better than microSD adapters... if the memory on the cart is corrupted... then the card is dead - but no worries on the speed of microSD...

... TOO MANY freakin Choices ... wow (which is a good thing... but... blah)

I've always preferred expandable cards. If you need more space, it's $12-15 USD to purchase another 1GB TF/MicSC, not so easy to replace/expand on cards like that.

Yes, I can personally tell you that the DS-Linker is a great card, for a knock off.

I bought it for my girlfriend, and have spent quite a bit of time with it. The only thing I can't tell you about, is it's homebrew capabilities. I haven't ran any on that card. I really don't run any on my DS anyways,

But every single game I've thrown on it, works flawlessly. Even PoR. You just may have to change the save for some games. You may get a white screen, or a screen that says to please re-insert the cartridge. If you get any of those screens when you start up a game, just hit Select+Left or Right. That will change the save type, and the game will start right up.

The only reason I didn't get the Linker, is because I have a G6. And I didn't want to have two cards with internal memory. So I went with the R4, just so I could upgrade when or if I wanted to.

But, since it seems only certain kinds of memory cards can run PoR, I'm wishing I would have went with the DS-Linker.

Anyways, if you decide to get it, you'll be happy with it.

hm, i would also like to make an inquiry:

how fast does it take to burn files to the NDS cartridge? (i only have a regular usb port, 1.1? not 2.0)

what save format does the DS Linker and its clones use? (same as supercard?)

you can flash different firmwares since theyre all clones right? (are the firmware flashed? or are they just in the cart space?)

for the dldi interface, you use the Neo Flash MKV, but it only seems to have READ capabilities... so you cant WRITE with it yet ... ?

The write speeds aren't incredibly slow, but they aren't incredibly fast either. There's an UltraFlash PassEX review at GBATemp. And the reviewer stated some write times on it. And since they are both basically the same cards, it pretty much applies to the DS-Linker too.

I think it took me 3 minutes to write EBA to the card. And that's a 128mb game (one of the biggest the DS has, I believe).

It has a few different save formats I guess, they are: EEPROM 4Kbit,  EEPROM 65/512Kbit, and FLASH 2Mbit. I don' tknow if that answers your question or not.

Yes, you can flash different firmwares to it. I currently have the UltrFlash PassEX's firmware on my DS-Linker. I think the UFPEX's menu looks slightly better. But you can always go back to the original carts firmware. I went back to the DS-Linkers firmware just to make sure I could.

But all the firmwares from all the clone carts(Linker, UFPEX, N-Card, Express), are all the same. It seems the only difference between them, are the backgrounds in their menus. That's it. So doesn't really matter what firmware you throw on it.

And I haven't messed with DLDI. So I really don't know about that.

I have an 8G DS-Linker, and I'm getting a 16G DS-Linker. That's how much I like this card. I hardly ever use my R4 anymore.

ah, when i mean save type, i meant .sav (is it raw or does it have its own format? kinda like Supercard's saves... it'll be in the raw format...)

for the firmware - you just copy and paste the firmware in the card? and thats it?

hm... seems like a decent card... moonshell does work on it right?

(sigh, if only it had WRITE capabilities... then i'd probably get one [eventually] for sure)

h8uthemost

Ah, sorry. Yeah, the games save as a .SAV.

And you'll have a couple .bat files, in the latest firmware download you get off their site. And you just click on that one that corresponds to your card(whether you get an 8G or 16G), and that's it. I think it flashes the firmware to it.

And then there will be a DSSYSTEM folder. And you just drop that into the card. I think that's the actual menus and stuff.

So yeah, it's extremely easy to do. After you do it, you can just pretty much forget about it. They've came out with firmware updates, with just minor little upgrades. I'm waiting for the firmware where they implement soft reset.

And yeah, moonshell works on it. There's a download for it.

I have a M3 DS Simply, but I'm definitely changing to DS-Linker 16Gbits. I've bought a DS-Linker 8Gbits as a gift to my son, and its price is better than the M3+memory card. I liked the menu, with 3D icons to each ROM. The battery save is better than the M3. I have a USB 1.1 port, and the transfer rate is good too. I will buy a 16Gbits for me and sell my M3 DS Simply.

Lol...that's exactly what I did with my R4. I traded it in for the 16G DS-Linker. But, I started to miss my R4, so I bought another one.
