I'm just saying that other homebrew that uses DLDI does not work with the SCSD version but does work with the moon_SCSD version.

SukkoPera

Well, please try MCTool with that patch, then! 8)

I've never even heard of this moon_SCSD patch.  What exactly is it?  Is it a DLDI file?  Or is it just another file that Moonlight released in addition to the standard .ds.gba, .nds, and .sc.nds files?  If it's the latter, then Moonlight apparently has the means to fix this SC Lite homebrew issue, which is something that needs to be sorted out ASAP.

ZAFDeltaForce

Can this be patched using DLDI and work with the R4?

SukkoPera

@ZAF: Yes, please report if you get it working.

@dan: I think it's an alternative SC SD DLDI patch by the author of Moonshell. I'll try to prepare a pre-patched version.

It works when I patch the SCSD binary with DLDI. When I check the memory card however, it gave me the following: "Starting check/repair pass. FATs differ but appear to be intact. Using first FAT. malloc: Not enough space.

Any ideas?

I'm using a Sandisk 1GB, formatted to FAT32, having 69.3MB left.

Add me in msn, its faster this way.

ZAFDeltaForce, have you tried patching any other homebrew with it?  Homebrew that doesn't normally work with your device?  If so, does it work with the new DLDI file?

SukkoPera

My latest discovery is that the alternative SCSD DLDI driver (Moonshell's) should work with every SCLite out there, when reading, but crashes when writing.

Therefore DO NOT USE IT, or it will probably DESTROY YOUR MC!

Heh, wow, I knew that, but I didn't even think about the implications of using the new driver in MCTool when writing fails.  I'm so smart...

In any case, it could still be useful for some applications though, like DSOrganize and Moonshell which have various uses that don't require writing.

EDIT:  to follow up on my report at GBAdev with my SC miniSD, I've found that it did indeed hang up once I added more files, but repeating the sort again and again eventually produced a successful sort.

Oh, and I've also found that any file I create in DSOrganize (recorded sound even) will create some sort of error that MCTool will have to fix.  In fact, I'm now getting errors stating "FATs differ but appear to be intact.  using the first FAT. " and I'm getting the "long file name" errors again, but I can live with it.  I'll simply refrain from using any writing functions in DSOrganize.  I may need to reformat the miniSD card again to start off with a clean slate, but after that I should be fine.

I have never used DSO much, but I will try it to get this thing sorted, but it's probably DSO's fault. Are you using the latest DLDI version?

BTW, I'm looking into a couple of things now, a new version should soon be out.

Yeah, DSO is notorious for corrupting cards (even if the newer versions are supposed to work better), so I'm pretty sure that it's DSO's fault, not yours.  And I'm using 2.41 without patching it with DLDI (I'm using the .sc.nds file that works well on its own).  2.45 was released earlier today, but I haven't tried it yet.

Did anyone try mctool15 with a 4GB SC miniSD?

I experience problems,  :?

After running mctool successfully, I quit the application and enter the Supercard menu, where the files appear again nicely sorted.
But after running a game, powering the nds down and up again the card appears to be empty.

Fortunately I was able to repair the filesystem on the miniSD card using a PC with ScanDisk.

Can it be that mctool does not support 65kb block size?

=[
My memory card is now full of 16kb files, ScanDisk can't repair...
Oh well, at least I backed up my saves before I ran this.
