Help with DS1 and Kingston 1GB MicroSD

I recently purchased an DSOne. I have tried using it with 2 different Kingston cards.

I have loaded the OS successfully on both cards, it boots and is nice looking. However, when I try and run any roms I get the dual white screens of death.

1GB Kingston (Taiwan) - Fails memory speed test, dual white screens on all roms.

1GB Kingston (Japan) - Gets a 30 on memory speed test, dual white screens on all roms.

I've tried formatting to different FAT configurations as well as patching the roms. Still no luck!

Has anyone else had success getting the DS1 to work with Kingston MicroSD 1 gb memory?

strells

Yes, I have.  You know that you don't need to patch the ROMs, right?

Which ROMs and which software version are you using on the DS1?

I've tried a number of different ROMS (about 20),
both unpatched (clean) and patched.

super mario 64 sometimes runs the title screen that says nintendo and then freezes. Every other game gets white screens.

Oh and  I've tried two different software versions. The latest one and the beta release.

peanut, I'm having almost the exact same problems as you. I just got my SCDS yesterday (from RHS) and a brand new 1 GB Kingstom microSD(Japan) card and having pretty much the same symptoms. The card boots up fine, UI runs great, but loading any rom pretty much fails.

Using the same ROM:
1/3th the time a ROM will load, then within 5minutes--usually a lot less, say 30 seconds - 1 minute tops--it will lock up.
1/3th the time the ROM just gives me 2 white screens
1/3th the time the ROM the rom gets past the 2 white screens and goes to 2 black screens.
This also happens nearly the same with at least 10 other ROMS I've tried with only slight varying rates.

I've tried clean roms and also tried patching them with every combination I could think of using Super Card 2.58 software from their site. Very little effect and still goes white, black, or crashes very soon. Nothing helped.

I've tried every possible SD Card Speed+Saver size (Auto SD Speed detects my card at 30) and seems to have no real effect.

I've tried formatting the microSD card using every FAT/Cluster combination I can think of, nothing helped.

I've used tried both 1.1 and 1.0 software from the Supercard site along with latest Saver DB, nothing helped.

I did the debug startup test (L+R) and it the test went fine. Did I get a defective Supercard or what? I don't have any other microSD cards to try but my microSD card seems fine. Should I try to exchange it back to RHS or just wait out for a new firmware? I'm kinda burned here :/

You might have a defective card. I had the same problems also. But I was using a sandisk ulta II  1 gig. I ended buying a new Super Card DS from RHS. Works great  now.

 Damn post office lost my package when I sent back for a defective replacement .

If you going to sent it back to RHS for a replacement don't use the post office. Use DHL or UPS to ship it back.

Celois

Damn :/. Who do I get in contact for exchanging it? Site is kinda funky :P

It might be also worth noting that clicking on "Super Key" under Other in the UI also always gives me 2 white screens so I'm guessing it's the Supercard for sure. *Sigh*

No, just use USPS Priority with delivery confirmation and insurance. You can see if it has been delivered, and if they loose it you can claim the insurance.

Just open a support ticket with RHS and tell them about the problem. They are very good at responding this way.

I bought mine at Buy.com and it is labeled as a Kingston 1 GB microSD. The card has the following on the back of it;

SDC/1GB
30785-001-A00LF
Taiwan

Anyway, so far every game i have tried (except Worms: Open Warfare) has worked perfectly. MP3's included. The game i believe was just a bad file (in the process of finding a replacement to test). So yeah, not bad for $14.95 shipped.

I used the Bonzai USB Flash Drive by SimpleTech, along with the included Kingston microSD Adapter, to test my microSD card.

Thanks for the responses.

I suppose I should ship mine back to RHS then?

Hi everyone I also have a SCDS1 and Kingston 1Go (Made in Japan)
I putthe OS files from http://eng.supercard.cn/soft_scdsone.htm on my microSD card but when I turn my DS on, it doesn't detect anything...
Can someone show me the light on that one ?

I got my exchanged Supercard today and it works! Even with Castlevania POR!

If you're having whitescreen problems with Kingston memory on all games, it might be your  Supercard! Don't give up! (I almost did)

Thanks to everyone for the information.

My first supercard one was also defective. it ran homebrew just fine but couldn't start a single game. I got a replacement one the next day and it worked perfectly.

ChrisMaire

ok well I suppose I ll send my card back for them to change it ...
thanks a lot !
