99 percent says youll need some form of wireless acess point aka coffe shops wireless or a wireless router..what would be sweet thouhg some form of cell phone adapter, then you could actually play wirelessly.
TF WAS THAT?

The dongle acts like a wireless router for the DS and the Revolution, only problem is you need to have your PC on to play using it. Can pick up a wireless router for about the same price as the dongle now I believe

I was under the impression that it would be more controlled than that.  I'm really not sure, but isn't the NiFi some kind of proprietary wireless?  I hope not, as I already have a wireless network, but I can imagine N trying to have some control over it.  Maybe having some kind of software controlled logon, etc.  Just speculating... dunno...

You can check this out for the latest DS WiFi developments. There is a reward of over $2,000 for anyone who can crack the WiFi part of the DS.

The object to to turn the DS into a web browser and free telephone system using the headphone adaptor; something along the lines of Skype.

I've seen some of that... but that will work for homebrew / code mods... I'm saying, to play the games WiFi out of the box, I'm thinking you're going to have to go with N's hardware.  Hopefully we can play on our own networks though.

The USB WiFi dongle is supposed to be for those who don't have a home/neighbours WiFi set-up (presumably a similar principle to the Bluetooth dongles) so the game SHOULD work with a home system if the DS signal is strong enough!

It will be interesting to see if Mario Cart DS works from the SC or if there is further encryption for the WiFi function.

Given the price of a Bluetooth dongle, the £15 (21 Euros) isn't too bad for the branded product.

I doubt it.  Nintendo uses proprietary wireless.  Hopefully we can use it for our own uses sometime.

Okay, I've been a long time reader on this forum and this is my first post... but it's to clear up a lot of misconceptions.

#1: Nintendo does NOT use a proprietary WiFi protocal. It uses the standard 802.11b protocal and is therefore compatible with all router/wifi cards that support this standard (which is basically every single one in existance except for a few super odd ball ones)

Nintendo DOES however, use a proprietary W-LAN (wireless local area network) based on 802.11b. The difference may not seem to big to most people, but the differences are thus: You can't use your PC to send wireless download data to your DS (normally, we've seen there are ways around this with "wifi me"), BUT your DS will be able to work with almost all wireless access points for internet usage.

#2: The USB adapter is NOT a dongle. I'm not sure if the first person just misused the word, or doesn't know what dongle means. A dongle means a device that hooks up via a cable. The wifi adapter is not a dongle, and therefore does not hook up to the NDS at all. It's completely wireless.

#3: As Dudu.exe said, you'll probably be able to use the supercard to play the games, but you won't be able to play them online without the individual code that you get when you BUY the game. This works similar to what PC games use to keep stolen copies from being played online (think battlefield 2, or warcraft 3)

Unfortunately, unlike the ball, people do not bounce.

I believe in the older days a "dongle" is used for softwares like AutoCAD to check if you have a valid dongle attached to you machine and acts as a license checking thing...

I find it strange these days that anything that is small and about the size of a big eraser is called a USB "dongle", either its an USB WiFi device, an USB Bluetooth device, an USB InfraRed device... they are all called dongle by some people.

I've been trying quite hard to relate it to pr0n at not much luck...
