Yes, there's a topic only a few threads down for troubleshooting the program, but there's no announcement that it was ever released.

Gnese has released a beta version of the newest Comic Book DS program.  This new version uses the FAT filesystem to store the comics, which means that it can now be used on devices that don't support GBA compatibility.  It uses the DLDI interface, so most cards, if not all, should now be compatible.

There are a few issues though, issues that are planned to be fixed in the next version.  For one thing, your comics must be named 1.cbds 2.cbds 3.cbds etc. and they must be placed on the root of your card.  Once directory listing becomes available when Wintermute releases r20 of DevKitARM, this can be fixed and you will be able to place your .cbds files anywhere, with any name.

I've found that the system works well enough for normal usage.  I like that I don't have to reboot my DS to go to the next chapter of my manga, and I already love the program itself.  Besides, each .cbds file has an internal name that is displayed once you boot Comic Book DS, so you don't have to remember which file is which comic.

Grab the download from http://gnese.free.fr/NDS/ComicBookDS/ and download some free pre-compiled books at http://cbds.free.fr/?language=en (or submit your own)

I've patched this to work on my R4 and DS1 carts, no problems.
I also found a great site for free comics http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/

im guessing no one knows where to download marvel or dc comics like superman or spiderman or even the sonic series for free?

I think I saw someone mention somewhere you could get Sonic comics at a site called Tails Kicks Ass or something.  Haven't tried it myself, as I'm not too big into Sonic.  I'm currently using Comic Book DS for holding several chapters of Death Note, as well as the entire collection of the Ozy and Millie webcomic.

sweet site thanks for letting me know about it, if anyone knows of a site similar for dc and marvel comics let us know!
